I didn't know much about 2 and 3 in the series, but the world is more intense than 1.
Also, I was surprised that 3 didn't have sliding kicks.

The first time I was ever scared by a video game as a kid was playing Splatterhouse 3. It was the cutscenes. I will forever have the words "Jennifer begins to smell of rot......of the grave" burned into my mind.
