access violation after I installed ninja... game won't launch

Workshop versions of Ninja, Toolkit and Community Patch don't work for me, but github versions do, although i did get false positives on download.

@Valkyria Demanding free labor for a free product one didn't pay for, like many people do here isn't much better. I never demanded money. Initially, this was to help offset the cost to buy a code signing certificate. Now it helps to prioritise for getting the fix in place: The software works as is - although sometime with manual work around - if someone wants convenience but doesn't have the patience to wait for me to find time, they are welcome to nudge me with a donation. I see nothing wrong there. (Also not really an "essential security fix" if it's a falsely flagged detection).

Windows Defender flagged this mod as Virus on my system a week ago. I ignored the warning and played since then. Nothing suspicious happend yet.

Demanding money for fixing essential security problems, feels kinda off to be honest.

To repeat, checksums are available to verify the downloaded software yourself. The official release is currently false-positively flagged by many vendors. A solution is in the works. In the meantime you can show support by verifying your download and reporting false positives to your malware scanners.

@mud-freak Game seems to run without Ninja and Community patch, but I don't know, I have started a new game, so I didn't play that much, but it seems working.

@Launch unfortunately, I cannot help debug the gothic installation if it no longer works even on a clean reinstall. The screenshot of the access violation error points to zParserExtender (see last row). I doubt the cause is from Ninja. Your best shot might be to really do a fresh install and only install items through the steam workshop - one-by-one always checking if the game is working.

So I tried to solve it by installing Playerkit 1,08, Pkit 2.08, Systempack 1,8 and 4 GB patch. This corrupted my game, so i uninstalled everything, Playerkit, Systempack, whole game, even erased whole Gothic folder in steamapps. Then I made fresh install of Gothic and now it's not working anymore, even after fresh new install. It's strange, because I completely uninstalled these Pkits, Spacks and everything, but problem still occurs even after fresh new install from Steam.

I got this Access violation error message right after start, any advice what to do? I'm playing on Asus ROG Ally. I think it's Ninja that is specificaly making problems. But before the installation of Playerkit, and Systempack to Steam version of the game was everything working, I had fully modded game with DX11, CP and all useful Union mods like advanced inventory etc... Ninja was working properly too. Only problem was blackscreen from Texture pack by Artemiano, but game was still running, I heard all sounds of running game, even when I openened inventory but with blackscreen.

@Nazgah Hi that's not related to Ninja.Check if the mod you are playing includes the bloodsplats but does not ship the respective textures. Ask the creator of the mod to allow disabling bloodsplats if they annoy you.

I get the squares with my mods combination, anyway to turn that completely off? Tried your bloodsplat mod but it's just feels too unnecessary and clutters the screen. I don't feel like circumventing it with transparent textures

False positives may sometimes happen for any binary files that an anti-virus software is not familiar with. To be sure, you can confirm that Ninja is downloaded from the official download sites (including this steam workshop item) and compare the checksum here: https://github.com/szapp/Ninja/wiki/Checksums#wiki-wrapper

Ok! Since Ninja has not received an update for a while and remained very stable in this regard and the combination of mods had worked with no issue in the past, I'd suggest turning to Union support.

There is no error message or crash the game tries to lunch and after 1–2 seconds it closes with no information, and I'm using the newest version for both mods.

@Szuma could you provide more information, i.e. how does it not launch (error message, crash), and what version of each you are using. Maybe then it's possible to resolve that issue

Game doesn't lunch with when Ninja and Union are both enabled.

@DoktorWojna I cannot reproduce the issue. When I start Gothic 1 with Union and Ninja enabled, the game runs smooth. It may be related to a certain patch or plugin you have loaded. Could you please share with me the list of mods/patches/plugins that you have enabled in the Steam Workshop Launcher?

The issue with "big squares" on the screen most likely originates from outdated or incomplete modification projects. The respective developer should update their script libraries and include the necessary image files.

I have found solution for "Big Squares on my screen whenever im taking damage" as i had the same. You should install Bloodsplat mod from the same author.

Additional Installation Instructions:
(This might be obvious to many players. But it took me half a day to figure out.)
Right click on the game in steam, and select Properties.
Select Betas, and opt into "workshop - Workshop Beta".
When launching the game, always select "Mod Launcher".
Or if you want to use a shortcut, make sure to shortcut "Gothic1SteamWorkshopLauncher.exe".

Installing (subscribing) to this on a completely unmodified (verified via steam) game fails to install correctly, according to the console test described in the documentation. Meaning that bringing up the console and entering the command "ninja" results in an unknown command error, instead of the expected version report.

For comparison, I can install Ninja via Github download successfully, and get the expected console version report.

I've tried launching everything in admin mode to eliminate that as a root cause.

Even after installing ninja successfully via github download instead of steam workshop, none of the ninja-dependent plugins I've installed via steam workshop show up in the list of plugins in the ninja command, or seem to work otherwise.

I haven't tried downloading ninja-dependent plugins from somewhere other than steam workshop, because I don't know where they would be.

Ninja supports the unaltered executables of Gothic 1.08k_mod and Gothic 2 NotR 2.6 Report version.

Gothic Sequel Version: 1.12f

I am not sure what you mean by ninja script. The extension works with the executables of Gothic 1.08k_mod and Gothic 2 NotR 2.6 Report version.
