For everyone wondering for B41, the mod doesn't allow you to craft metal drums for charcoal making.
In order for you to craft a metal drum, you need a metal drum. Its broken...

B42 pls
[SE:VH] Queiroz 14 apr @ 11:20
Can you please make the only requirement to take off the barrel lid having a pipe wrench or similar tool?
marshmallow justice 20 mar @ 11:07
wait i thought i could just take the lids off a normal world spawned barrel into a water drum
do i need the whole ass metal lvl 5 and everything just to open the lid?
Monkey Magic 6 feb @ 11:44
ETA on an update to B42? (NGL, with over 87k subscribers, I'm surprized no one has asked already)

For reference: In B42 the vanilla Metal Drums appear to be bugged(?) They work only as a fire source (although still no cooking available) and although they have "liquid options" this appears to be WIP currently.

Meanwhile, the vanilla barrels have no crafting options other than to disemble them into metal drops, so it should be viable to add a new recipe to make a metal version of the vanilla Rain Collector provided it is made as a new item, rather than converting into a Metal Drum.

unwielding a lid takes 8 levels wha... even my grandma can do that and without using a torch lol. Can i change this requirement or delete it completely?
✞XxTominoCZSKxX✞ 13 dec, 2024 @ 8:37
bro it gives me 400 units of water instead of 800 units
SnowFlakes 1 sep, 2024 @ 22:15
Seem to be having an issue the Barrel is not being detected so i cant craft the water barrel :(
anyone know why?
DatBoi302 20 aug, 2024 @ 3:22
Mod doesn't allow me to crouch after picking up a barrel
Bathorgh 19 aug, 2024 @ 15:36
To make metal durum I need metal durum? Wtf?
Morgan 28 mar, 2024 @ 19:26
May I add this to my modpack?
Gimbo 3 mar, 2024 @ 15:03
this mod go in conflict with fuel api?
Vanquisher02 8 feb, 2024 @ 12:40
look like it's not working for craft opened metal drum... the interface don't detect the barrel i crafted to my inventory, what a shame, your mod has lot of potential...
BulbmanX 2 feb, 2024 @ 21:13
The fact that you need all 5 logs in you main inventory is kinda ridiculous, had to strip to nothing with my lvl 10 strength character to manage XD
Serana Borogroves 31 jan, 2024 @ 16:17
Is this mod abandoned, or does it work with the current build, and if so does it work on servers? Don't see and responses from the author recently and remember using this in the past, thought it might be a good addition to an MP server
Blyzz.com 27 jan, 2024 @ 15:26
To make a metal drum it requires a metal drum? How does one convert a Metal Barrel into a metal drum?
阿扁巴巴大俠 13 jan, 2024 @ 6:26
Sometimes the craft menu metal disappeared. I'm not sure if it's conflicting with other mods.
Zefiruz 11 jan, 2024 @ 12:15
Mods que deberían ser vanilla.
NekoJess 11 jan, 2024 @ 6:28
@rabidgonk
Honestly, using the barrels as inventories isn't really suggested. On the one hand, when you move an empty drum you've crafted, the inventory reverts to a vanilla spawned drum, thus removing it's inventory feature. It's a big item wipe danger.
rabidgonk 5 jan, 2024 @ 16:38
I just installed this mod. It worked fine to create the storage barrels, but after i restarted the server, the barrels only had 15 capacity. Anything that was holding more than that isn't even interactable now.
NekoJess 28 dec, 2023 @ 12:33
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!!!
I've just created a compatibility mod for THIS MOD , and 'Skizot's Carryable Everything' .
It also comes with an optional sub mod that will reduce the level requirement for cutting the top off an existing metal drum to create a Rain Collector (Level 4 Metalworking)!

ENJOY~!
odb90 13 okt, 2023 @ 5:42
I have metalworking 5 but I cant craft the container one and I dont see it in the menu nor the other dose it works in multyplayer?
ReZpawner 11 aug, 2023 @ 4:04
Probably a good idea to let the logs be added from all inventories, as most people won't even be able to carry 5 logs in their main inventory.
Mafhdi 5 aug, 2023 @ 12:42
Please allow us to change the settings. The fact that you can craft a barrel at level 5 but you need level 8 to make a hole in it is just ridiculous. thanks
FURRYHUSKY1000 21 jul, 2023 @ 23:35
mod is broken, you can make the barrels fine, but as soon as you convert it to a metal drum that can store liquids, the barrels in your inventory just disappear, with the drums no where to be found.
Hostile Blue Whale 13 jul, 2023 @ 23:54
How are the vanilla barrels convertible to rain collect drums? I get that u need MW level 8 to craft the barrel, but do u really need level 8 to take a lid off the barrel?
Sowilo 30 apr, 2023 @ 13:59
Hey, I was working on my own metalworking mod and noticed that your mod unfortunately breaks anything else adding to the MWing submenu, unless I'm missing something. If I try to add to the submenu of ContextMenu_MetalWelding, it's not added properly and does not build properly, and I found out it's from what your code is doing with addSubMenu in your overwrite of ISBlacksmithMenu.doBuildMenu, since when I remove this mod, my code works fine. I suspect some reports of issues in other MWing mods may be due to this mod and end users not realising it.

Would it be possible to improve compatibility for other mods? It shouldn't be necessary to overwrite the doBuildMenu function in ISBlacksmithMenu or to overwrite any other functions, as you can add to the metalworking menu directly (happy to help if needed). Alternatively, if you rather not make changes or don't have time, would it be acceptable if I released a patch for this mod that overwrites ISBlacksmithMenuPatch.lua for compatibility?
Sai 28 apr, 2023 @ 4:14
Following up from my previous comment about the incompatibility with Skizot's Carryable Everything (https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2921029369) , was wondering whether you could add his barrels as a possible material for the recipe, which according to Skizot should solve the incompatibility? It'd be lovely to be able to use both mods!
WolfPupp 13 apr, 2023 @ 13:01
Hmmm...Suggestion if possible.. i think if we have an existing Metal Drum, can we make it Metal Working Level 5 or lower?? since your just cutting off the lid. Then when we are crafting our very own homemade barrel, then its the one that should be metalworking Level 8???
Sai 30 mar, 2023 @ 16:51
Great stuff. I just wanted to confirm that, as noted by @Omega_Wolf, this mod is incompatible with 'Skizot's Carryable Everything', regardless of mod order. After some testing, I believe the issue is that Skizot's mod fiddles with barrel items to make them carryable, making them different from base/vanilla barrels which are required to craft metal drums. Am also confirming mod works fine with 'Wired Lamps on Pillar' as long as this mod is placed after it.
Gisbert 23 mar, 2023 @ 5:34
@KahnedAR
You are welcome.

You should be aware that every mod that overwrites the building menu (to be more exact: adds features/new objects to the building menu - the menu that opens, when you right click on the ground) could conflict with this mod here.

One possible solution could be to load this mod here last (last thing in mod order). Worked for me this time to have both mods I want.

Happy surviving! :)
KahnedAR 23 mar, 2023 @ 0:28
@Gisbert
Damn dude, you rule
Gisbert 22 mar, 2023 @ 14:53
I double checked now and can say 100%

This mod works!

You need a metal barrel to craft a drum, even the translation (in my case: German) is wrong and tells you that you need a drum. Anyway if you have the "barrel" in your pocket, you can craft the drum!

But this mod conflicts with this mod "Wired Lamps on Pillar":
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2890387396&searchtext=grid+lamp

Or to be more exact, "Wired lamps on Pillar" overwrites the vanilla menu which causes error codes in "WLP_ISWorldObjectContextMenu.lua".

So for everyone reading the comments and wondering like me:
This mod still works!
KahnedAR 24 feb, 2023 @ 15:00
I have same problem here, need metal drum to craft metal drum, don't know why this is like that.
Also I can craft metal drum, but I need smithing at lvl 6, but in my skills there is no skill 'smithing' xD May be conflict or smh.
Tried to change recipe for barrels so I can craft them without bleach/paint which I cannot find anywhere but I failed :<
Vanhellsing007 21 feb, 2023 @ 16:07
@Omega_wolf it may have been a mod conflict for you, but my mod doesn't show in red so there shouldn't be a mod conflict with mine nor do i have or use that mod that allows you to carry anything and it still doesn't work, main issue is that it doesn't show in the context menu at all as an option even when i have all the mats to make it happen!
Omega_Wolf 20 feb, 2023 @ 19:45
**update, it was another mod conflict, this one to be specific

Omega_Wolf 20 feb, 2023 @ 19:21
says i need a metal drum... to craft a metal drum. would really love to see this issue addressed soon, as i cannot convert both found barrels nor crafted ones.

Getting the message in the crafting menu i need a metal drum to make a metal drum?
Monkey Magic 30 jan, 2023 @ 2:02
@Kasera - I tend to offload garbage onto zed corpses, an bury them (or let the rot away) - but you bring up an interesting idea. Zeds can be burned on the ground or in campfires, but can they be burned in the barrels?

Load up a few zeds, and toss them in to find out...

Actually that just gave me an idea: Rotten food can be decomposed in composters, resulting in fertilizer and worms. If the same mechanic can be used in a mod, the barrels could potentially be used as refuse burners..

Throw in unwanted items (as per rotten food in composters) set the thing alight as a trigger, and wait out the result - something like charcoal, and unusable metal.

@Biggles - Place logs in, set alight and wait
TTVbadluckbiggs 25 jan, 2023 @ 5:42
how is the charcoal produced?
Ravenshadow 24 jan, 2023 @ 8:50
@Kasera ya it would be nice.... but i always pick up one of the small office trashcans to carry around for that reason
SleepyBoi 21 jan, 2023 @ 20:14
You need at least 1 metalwork magazine
Monkey Magic 21 jan, 2023 @ 13:33
Could you add an alternate version or option to disable crafting barrels? I would like to be able to craft the metal drum using only the existing barrels for server purposes.
c3lsior playa 20 jan, 2023 @ 9:18
sry, just rn read that THIS MOD WORKS WITH EXISTING SAVES on the first page, sorry
Wrote this for lazy users which will be interested in this info. Also it would be better if uve added this in discription. Only 1 sentence.

Btw thx for a mod, man <3
c3lsior playa 20 jan, 2023 @ 9:11
@[TECT$ECore] Olipro can it be ran on existing save if i havent been in lousville?
SleepyBoi 19 jan, 2023 @ 21:11
The menu doesn't pop out, how do you use this mod?
Smoking Monkey 18 jan, 2023 @ 11:52
What would be epic and helpful is that if these barrels could be burn barrels. Throw your garbage or things you want deleted, and BURN IT
[TECT$ECore] Olipro  [skapare] 10 jan, 2023 @ 9:04
If another mod deletes my items, they need to fix it because they are overwriting the Metalworking in the shittiest way possible - namely, copypasting the vanilla code.

Any mod that edits the metalworking menu in the same way that I do with this mod won't break other people's shit.
