@Domin

make sure you haven't placed the rig outside of the normal terrain boundaries

Having issues with AI detecting and trying to shoot me through the rig, any solutions?

Thanks :DSTchester:

Make sure in Eden you have disabled Vertical Mode and Surface Snapping on the top toolbar. Otherwise, the composition will be placed all offset based on the terrain.

@kiLLroy

Hey, yeah, putting anything outside of terrain boundaries will always cause strange behaviours, even with the vanilla in-game static ships, you'll generally want to avoid placing any objects or AI outside of terrain boundaries to prevent issues.
Thoreaufare  [ophavsmand] 23. feb. 2022 kl. 13:57
@kiLLroy thanks man, I'll update the description to warn people of putting this composition outside terrain boundaries.
kiLLroy 23. feb. 2022 kl. 13:54
I found the issue. I wanted the oil rig to be as far away from the island as possible to ceate this "motherbase" feeling from MGSV and therefore i placed the rig outside of the actual ocean tiles of the map. Today I tried placing the rig on the actual map and it works like a charm.

Btw, thanks for your fast reply!

@kiLLroy

- Not sure why your objects are dissappearing that quickly. It'd be cool if you could share a screenshot so I better understand.

- I added that helipad object because it looked cool. Yeah, if you want AI to land there, you will need to add an invisible helipad object.

- Thanks.

Sadly I cannot edit my comment. When I fly towards it and hold right mouse to zoom in, I see every object, as soon as I release right mouse, I don't anymore. Even if my *very* close (like e.g. under 1 meter above the helipad).
kiLLroy 22. feb. 2022 kl. 16:47
This is *so* great, thank you for that.

Do you have any idea on why most of the objects are not visible anymore as soon as take off from the rig via heli and not visible when I fly towards it, until I touch the surface of the rig? My graphics settings are maxed out.

Btw, why do you create the helipad this way? As I see it, is not even a helipad in gameplay terms (i.e. the AI cannot land on it - i had to add an "invisible helipad" prop on top of it in order to make it work). I'm rather new to mission making and just want to understand it.

Again, thanks for your work and making it available to be placed on all maps :)

cool
Cap.exe 7. feb. 2022 kl. 19:10
this is great now I just need to find a decent oil rig comp that doesn't want to murder my frames.
Ribcage 7. feb. 2022 kl. 11:51
And I'm gonna blow it the fuck up! Nice!

Looks amazing! Of course Arma 3's Ai won't work on these but as you clearly stated disabling the ai "PATH" feature fixes most issues. I just made the spawn points varied and random and so players can't "remember" the location of Ai and it seems like they move around after some time.

*Flashbacks from parkouring into the ocean*

Great job, I usually do custom navmeshes (if we can even call them that way) for this kind of compositions. That abviously requires some knowledge for mission making but its possible if you are dedicated enough.

Still, Ai is usually able to see through objects bulked up in places like this one but this doesnt take away from the enjoyment.

Read the description dumbass.

if you're at all familiar with ARMA ai then you would know that it would have trouble walking on user placed objects.
