Waiting forever for "reinforcements" before attacking the airport. Friendly chopper always flies directly above the airport and gets shot down. My mission is to WAIT... This mission wasted too much of my private time.

Uhh... honestly, I'm not sure what people like about this mission. No offense, but the kilomeres of walking felt really pointless and ridiculously boring, and the gameplay didn't feel tactical, realistic or satisfying at all.
Maybe it's just me but I was bored to hell during this mission.

Thanks for doing the vid Surfer. It's interesting to see how other people play the mission I made. I hope you tried to replay the mission to completion. Echo 1 "Counter Attack" continues the mission into the next hour of action. As the sun rises, visibility will improve.

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad most of you liked the mission. The next mission Echo 1 "Counter Attack" is now posted. Go fight off the CSAT and INDY counter attack. Lead Echo 1 deeper into taking more of Altis's ground.

Removing the CAS certainly made the mission more enjoyable for me! Thank you for adjusting some of those waypoints too, there was only one instance (the hill) where I ended up having to run 1.4km (700 there and 700 back) to complete a waypoint that hadn't triggered when I passed it.

The airport fight was much more enjoyable with actual troops left to defend it! ;)

I increased waypoint radius, and took out CAS support. For the people that found the mission broken or not working properly; try another run at the mission. Let me know if those changes made the mission more playable.

Well, I suppose nothing went in the mission as intended.
1) The beginning is very atmospheric but it losts after 10 minutes. It's more like hiking simulator, 6 km of walking is so much.
2) Everything was broken. :) All Ifrits and soldiers nearby were destroyed by someone (our heli I guess, one maybe by AT on the hill), choppers at the airfield as well. Before we reached airfield we killed only 4 soldiers, everyone else escaped to the airfield, CAS activated trigger and our reinforcements were dropped there 10 minutes before we reached it. At the end there were about 30 enemies at the airfield so it was really tough. Littlebirds came to airfield when still held by enemies one destroyed during landing, crew and one soldier from the second one killed too.
3) The join triggers should be connected with being close to the soldier, not to the waypoint. I saw soldier, came to him and nothing. I had to return 80 meters back where the waypoint was and voila "4: join group".

Tnx for answer. There is no problem with casuality, because 6 AI soldier can kill entire squad from AA castle without injury and AT guy destroy APC with no problem. CAS is not needed.

Yeah the amount of stuff you can do with the Arma engine is pretty crazy and it seems like everyone has their own way to do them :)

When I want to make a support asset available to the players later in a mission, I do all the regular setup in the editor BUT
- Don't draw the line between the "Support Requestor" and the "Support Provider" modules
- Give the Support Requestor and the Support Provider names (double click them and set the Name field)

Then when you want to make it available to the player, you can run this in your trigger:

requesterVariableName synchronizeObjectsAdd [providerVariableName];

Hopefully Steam will let me put a link to a short demo mission to show you what I mean

I've never use CAS in a mission before, so I thought I would just chuck it in here to try it. When you played the CAS, that must have tripped the trigger for the 2nd squad. When play testing I found the 10 meter waypoint radius was an issue as well, small oversight on my part. Going forward I'll adjust it to have a bigger radius. I like the 2nd squad as well. They bring AA,AT, and Hvy gun support. Without them, pushing on the airfield would be next to suicide.

When make the missions in the editor, I do the best with what I know. Seeing many styles on youtube, I've noticed that you can do the same thing a few different ways. If I don't know how to make something work, I do my best to dig up how to get it done. Any script or editing tips would be welcome. If it's more efficient than how go about it, I'm sure I will adopt it.

These comments help me in the making of the next mission. Thanks for the input.

I think the CAS is too much, or at least provided too soon. I didn't notice I had an AT guy and the dialog was that they'd just cleared out an AA position, so I thought it was intended that I call CAS. So I did and the Blackfoot actually took out the final objective too. In fact, when I got there the US forces had already been dropped off. I think the support requester can be activated by trigger, but if not it's easy to script adding that link (let me know if you want a pointer on how to do that).

I also wish that the waypoints had a 100 meter completion radius or so - it kept breaking me out of the mission when I had to go run within ~10 meters to get the waypoint to clear.

I actually liked having the 2nd squad. I assigned them to team yellow and used shift-f4 to do squad bounds.

I agree, past 8 is tough to control. Looking back perhaps Echo 2 should have been automated. Going forward I think I'll keep that in mind. Incase you took heavy losses, Echo 2 would have replaced many of your necessary personal. Thanks for the input.

I don't get the tabbing coment. When I played, I left the rocket fire to the squad AI. Having your squad formation in "Line", will get them to bare on the enemy without too much issue.

Right now my focus is single player missions. If there is nessary following, I can try my hand at COOP.

Thank you all for trying the mission out. This is the first mission that I've made with this much traction. For those hungry for the next part, I am still working on it. I'll post it once it is ready.

Yes, it was a long mission, 1 h +, duration is a crusial element, I think and the upscaling of danger and difficulty,as you said, another one!
I found earlier missions of yours, and I'm going to test them too!

Thank you. I play tested this mission many times before I released it. After each play test, I would tweek it here and there. I try to make the missions as clean as possible, most of the missions I've made before last about 30mins or so. This mission should run about 1 hour on average. I think making the mission a bit longer is the key to the fun. If I knew how to incorporate voices into the mission I would. Most of my editing skills come from youtube and arma webpages.

This mission is a combination of missions I've made in the past. I did my best to scale the threat level as you get in deeper to the mission. I'm working to continue the storyline from this point on. I always welcome ideals and thoughts about the missions I make.

Wow!!! What a mission! Top quality stuff ! Plausible scenario, suspence, and the battle for the airstrip... On the official BI campaign, I have not encountered such a battle, so far!
Congratulations for such a good effort!
