Cleaning out my build 41 mods, will this be moved to build 42?

Not easily. Also not the purpose of this mod.
Octocort 16. okt. 2024 kl. 0:10
is it possible to change how much a zombie slows the vehicle when hitting it?
Rusty #DopeRust 17. juni 2024 kl. 5:39
Hello @Vilespring, firstly awesome work on your mod + work.

Secondly i wanted to let you know(maybe you already know), your mod is incompatible with Driving Skill mod, if you use both as soon as you enter in a car, it starts giving thousands of errors in Error Magnifier, if you disable one of them and play it without the other, it works as intended.

Hope that there is a solution since them both add skills and would be awesome to use both, because in my oppinion they would work together good.

PS.: If is needed i can post the error from error magnifier.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance.

Modded vehicles is fine. Seatbelts will be fine as it only cares about vehicle and not the player.

Unsure about that mod, but answer is probably fine with that MP mod with the caveat I still need to investigate the desync issues.

Just haven't had the time to.
blackhawk700 30. mar. 2024 kl. 20:16
compatability with modded vehicles and or seatbelts/bettercollisionsMP?

sound
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 6. jan. 2024 kl. 12:50
For the most part. It needs a tiny thing to work a bit better but I've personally used it since making it.
FlyingSquid96 6. jan. 2024 kl. 8:18
this still works?
kERHUS 9. juli 2023 kl. 14:02
thanks :3
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 9. juli 2023 kl. 14:02
It works fine. I use it to this day.

@Santas helper

Does this skill reset only occur if you take professions modified by this mod? (Example: fighter fighter or police officer) or were people getting thier skills reset even if they have something like park ranger?

Asking cause if it only affects police officer and fire fighter, thats no big deal since no one i know ever goes those professions anyways. But if it affects things like park ranger or engineer thats a problem
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 24. apr. 2022 kl. 12:37
The problem is actually damage mitigated because that's how XP is granted, and damage will never be reduced below 1%.

"i do not mean to retract from this mod"

Does so anyways lmao. I made this for myself and uploaded it to the workshop incase anybody else cared. It grants XP similar to the maintenance skill, which is RNG.
Santas Helper 21. apr. 2022 kl. 19:03
obviously the 0.1 to 100% is insane and not a suggestion... i used it as an example because the math is simple. so long as you use something that makes sense and stick to a quadratic progression it will achieve the goal. the problem isn't the damage mitigated, it is the chance of getting xp being purely based on probability until level 10. you could theoretically ram a car into zombies for hours and never get a single skill point, or, max out the skill in the same amount of time, it depends entirely on random chance. if you eliminate the "chance" to mitigate then it just becomes a simple progression. i do not mean to retract from this mod, but there is another mod that does what i describe and it is user configurable to change how fast/slow and effective it all is. so if anyone would rather a different system, check that one out as well.
Casualfield 17. apr. 2022 kl. 11:02
Ah true, I want my cars to take damage especially when I crash. Just getting punished because I have high pop is annoying. Hhitting zombies even at low speed means massive repairs and hitting them is the only option. Light bulbs are the definitely the bane of my existence too lol
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 16. apr. 2022 kl. 21:09
I thought about that scaling, and I didn't like that solution, as the game will grant XP based on damage mitigated, and it's per part and I don't think it rounds nicely. So in the end a 0.1% damage reduction would make XP gains almost impossible bar ramming vehicles full speed into things (and even then I think it would round out), and a 100% reduction at level 10 is beyond ridiculous.

This mod never was meant as a "solution" to vehicles taking damage from being used as weapons. It was meant to be damage mitigation, where you could get lucky and get away with reduced damage from a singular incident. Like if you know how the oddities of vehicle damage work, you can kill many zombies with a vehicle while taking literally no damage. This mod exists for giving you a chance to save your car when you full speed smash into a lone zombie on the road or mess up a turn and hit a tree.
Casualfield 16. apr. 2022 kl. 20:36
Good mod, driving with high zombie pop deletes hoods and this has made them last longer. I also agree with Santas Helper's points.
Viper 10. mar. 2022 kl. 7:26
that last comment is a good point.
Santas Helper 24. feb. 2022 kl. 5:32
also... you need to have the chance of mitigation be 100% at 0 skill and up, just make the amount mitigated go up with the skill... from say, 0.1% at level 0 to 100% at level 10. since leveling is based on damage mitigated it is basically impossible to level the skill unless you start with it.
Santas Helper 24. feb. 2022 kl. 5:31
on my mp server, people with skill from this mod got reset in their skills after a minor update to the game which reverted back the changes you made to the vanilla professions. my advice is never modify professions, only add new ones (like the demo driver) OR add a trait you can take that gives the skill on any profession. ultimately the issue involves adding skill values to professions that existed prior to the mod being added, and then those changes being reverted after a game patch making players get flagged as having invalid values, and the game just puts them back to baseline to try and resolve it. this is all speculation of course, as i couldn't pinpoint WHY it happened, but after removing the mod from the server no further issues have occurred of that nature.
albany_ 22. feb. 2022 kl. 7:12
hell yeah dude, thanks for the update
djvirus 20. feb. 2022 kl. 0:34
Idk if the autotsar mods might affect it.
justanother*****client 19. feb. 2022 kl. 20:29
Thanks for reply. It wasn't super easy but all is good. Any related skill mods were affected. But managed to figure it out. Suicide and Destroying the Skill Recovery Journal helped to resolve the problems. :)
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 19. feb. 2022 kl. 16:35
It shouldn't effect those, and I don't think removing it would cause any adverse affects on save.
justanother*****client 19. feb. 2022 kl. 15:08
Hi, can I remove this mod? during a current save? It is messing up other trait/xp mods on my server. Snakes mod and stuff.Book reading mods.
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 19. feb. 2022 kl. 8:00
I updated the mod, it's the same as it was, but you gain XP 4x faster than before.
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 11. jan. 2022 kl. 19:08
That's interesting. In my tests it works fine. Are there any other mods that might mess with vehicles loaded?

Was it also a dedicated server?
djvirus 11. jan. 2022 kl. 16:20
Hmm, i survived 1 month, was the main driver of the group and didnt get a single level. Not sure what im doing wrong. I also went trough 20 car hoods
Pers0na 11. jan. 2022 kl. 14:59
Is this save game compatible?
GuiriGuy 1. jan. 2022 kl. 1:04
Hi there, Happy New Year!! Love the mod, let's start with that :D.

I little bug I found is that if you die, in a dedicated server, and try to redo or get the profession of Derby Driver, you can't. You need to exit the game and reenter to be able. Keep up this gran work!!!
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 28. dec. 2021 kl. 11:43
And honestly, while I was making this mod, I realized I had no real game design goal for it. In the base game there isn't a skill to make you the player take less damage, and upon injury there's first aid, comparable to mechanics for cars. I didn't want to cause carfu to return as honestly it's boring and I respect TIS for nerfing it.

If anything, making this mod made me crash less and take less damage because I learned the logic behind how cars take damage when hitting zombies.
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 28. dec. 2021 kl. 11:43
It's weird as it's like. It's not training to crash less, as those examples would be, as that's on the player. It's being trained specifically to mitigate damage in an accident. That's why it was given to professions where it makes sense. Like firefighters, police, and military in their jobs might find they have to ram something. They are trained in how to do this properly.

The only civilian and non-emergency profession where this makes sense is the demo derby driver. Not to mention, this skill scales like insane. Just one level increases proc chance by 8% and a significant damage reduction. Starting with points in it should be for a cost to other things.
Smiley Face Killer 28. dec. 2021 kl. 9:22
Trait idea:
- Cautious Driver, helps with the impacts of vehicles starts at maybe 10% damage reduction
- Reckless Driver, does the opposite of that ^
- Paranoid Driver, drives slower (like student driver) but starts at 40% damage reduction
- Careless Driver, Drives a little faster, starts at 20% damage reduction

Use what you want, or trash any of them, names popped in my head when i saw that you didn't have traits so figured I'd post them
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2021 kl. 15:33
I removed the damage floor. Any collision that succeeds its saving throw will give xp proportional to damage mitigated.

However, damage will never go below 1 still.
Falkon 27. dec. 2021 kl. 11:38
I'd love if you could make a version of this mod that has like an 80% damage reduction chance by default. I like realism and roleplaying but I cant stand the fact that going over a few zombies at a really slow speed breaks my car completely.
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2021 kl. 10:42
You slightly misunderstand.

The skill can do its saving throw to any damage, it's just not all accidents will give xp.
djvirus 27. dec. 2021 kl. 10:39
It would be cool if it did, On high speeds and vanilla settings when you hit a zombie it can destroy 10% of the hood
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2021 kl. 10:36
It levels by anything that damages a vehicle. It's just hitting like a zombie or two doesn't do enough damage for my logic to consider giving xp.

I'll revise the xp gain when I can.
Lyus 27. dec. 2021 kl. 9:41
actually, hitting zombies with mod cars, looks like i only get something like... 5 xp, when i throw a car against a pole at high speed, there's no way to buff it and make it useful to hit... zombies ?
djvirus 27. dec. 2021 kl. 8:20
Does it not level by hitting zombies?
Vilespring  [ophavsmand] 26. dec. 2021 kl. 21:27
I might look into bumping up the xp gains a bit.

But basically, small little impacts don't level it, but it's also probability based if it happens or not.
djvirus 26. dec. 2021 kl. 21:26
Ok so ive been using this mod for like 20 different journeys with cars, ive hit plenty of zombies and vehicles and ive only managed to get 16/75 xp for level 1. what am i doing wrong?
