The trick is that I keep him in a neverending attack. That said, this also disables jumping, walking, and move execution, so I'm afraid I don't know how suitable it would be for your needs. I do recall that there's a variable Kragg uses to track whether he's holding a rock, and it can be set to true on other characters to disable dashing+parrying. I think it also changes the index of what attacks the character uses, but that might be possible to work around? Recommend asking the Extended Workshop discord server.

how did you make Qua mario not behave like normal fighter when it comes to states and player input? im trying to permanently disable running and parrying for a character im making and i cant seem to do it because of input buffer, having to do stuff in animations.gml, and constantly setting the state in update.gml

@Kiki Unfortunately not, sorry. I wanted to, so so badly, but Rivals has a hard limit on how much code is allowed in one file (no compromises - break this limit and the character can't load), and it doesn't offer any robust ways of distributing code across files. It was already pretty difficult to get Qua Mario's base functionality to fit under these limits. Shortly after release it became clear that adding more complexity just wasn't feasible - small features that'd normally take me 2 minutes to add would take a half hour instead. If Rivals used Lua, or Java, or really anything besides GML it'd be easy, but it's just how things are, sadly.

@Tobindog100 Heyy, nice catch! The balloon and exploded sprites are for two of the Toads' taunts, since every one of them has a unique taunt. However the rest of what you found are all unused, yeah! During early development I had someone offering to make sprites for Wario, so he was a planned character, but the sprites were never finished so I had to cut him - must've missed something though. And I was initially planning to add the Propeller Mushroom and Super Acorn in an update (alongside the Frog Suit, actually!). Unfortunately, Rivals really isn't built to accommodate a character this complex, and it made further content additions pretty much impossible. I was so excited to keep working on it, too...

I was looking through the files of this and i noticed that there is: Some acorn suit images, some propeller suit images, exploded sprites, balloon sprites, some sandbert., 1 mention of wario, and a few other odd images. Check it out yourself. Directory (For me but i think it works for everyone's computer): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\383980\2656419045\sprites

Thank you. Also, what about the red and green shells? I see them in the image thing at the top, and they're in the munophone touch, how do I get them normally? Also, what about the 1up mushroom? Is it another unavailable item?

Also, what mods do this have built in compat with (like, the code for compat is in the character, not the other mod)

Hello! The Blue Shell item is available from the Roulette Platform upon respawning, like other power-ups. It's different from the other Power-Ups in that instead of transforming immediately upon touching it, Mario can pick it up and throw/kick it like a normal shell. To equip it you have to crouch while holding it, like how Shellmets are equipped in the Mario Maker games. As for the POW Block, it's unfortunately not available :( I was originally planning to make it available in an update but it didn't pan out; maintaining a character of this complexity was too hard. Lastly, the only way to obtain power-ups other than the ones you start with with is to be KO'd and respawn, yes. Or I suppose you could steal one from another Qua Mario player after THEY respawn.

I was wondering how to get ahold of certain special items like the blue shell item and POW block used in the images. I was also wondering if there's any way to get a different reserve item. For example, if I start a battle and want to get an ice flower reserve, do I NEED to die or is it possible to get an item via other methods?

At this time I am sorry to say that there are unlikely to be updates, unless a critical bugfix becomes necessary. Maybe some day, but for the time being the limitations of the Rivals modding engine make a character as complex as Qua Mario more challenging than expected to maintain and expand upon; I'm very limited in what I can add because beyond a certain point the game becomes unable to load the scripts at all.

@Jax??? Uh oh. Is the disconnect due to a desync? I think I can guess what's causing this - my code commits some pretty major no-nos to get around some strangeness with port order when carrying other players, and I wouldn't be surprised if a recent update or something has made it so I can't get away with that anymore. I'll see if I can do something about it, apologies for the inconvenience.

Anyone else getting disconnected whenever you try to pick up your teammate in friendly battles??
Me and a friend would play Qua Mario and then when we pick each other up, we disconnect. But also sometimes it's fine and doesn't disconnect when we do pick each other up??
