@Farbott, it has same piercing as regular coilgun ammo, which is 1 crawler body at most. Main balance thing about it is that you always need two hands free if you want to carry this around. Also it doesn't have any stun, so you will get hit anyway if monster is too close.

I recommend you up this things price a lot and make the recipe a bunch more material costly too, this seems too easy to obtain a weapon that can punch through hordes easily.
