Very ty sir, for your work.

The melting point matters if you are building near something hot, like a volcano or rocket exhaust. Thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity matter for heat management. Some materials are better for conducting heat from place to place (high TC), some are better for insulation (low TC, low SHC), and some are better for heat storage and buffering (high SHC).
Mister Zi 2. nov. 2024 kl. 13:49
wait does it really matter what material I use to build? I thought it was just a matter of "decorum"

I mean their thermal conductivity. Cobalt costs 200 - but with the help of your mod, it shows 100
mesi  [ophavsmand] 6. mar. 2024 kl. 15:25
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but the availability number isn't done by this mod, and it subtracts resources that are already allocated to construction tasks.
fak12394567 4. mar. 2024 kl. 8:15
Incorrect display
of cobalt - 100. There are 200 in the game

There is Thermal Tooltips mod, which is actually usefull.
ShyLion 30. okt. 2023 kl. 5:10
I shows equal numbers for insulated, radiating and normal pipes/vents/tiles.
Is that by design?
PrideGroupIsEvil 9. jan. 2023 kl. 0:40
Mod has two issues with insulation tiles.
1) In the vanilla properties tab, conductivity is usually listed at the top. In this mod, it shows it at the bottom on the build menu. This needs to be fixed for consistency.
2) This mod shifts the decimal place in the build menu, and neither of these inconsistencies are appreciated. I'd rather it look the same as it does on the Properties menu.

Hmm... i don't use that one because it's known to cause strange bugs (like this one i guess), and i can't easily test because it's not on Steam. But i checked the code for MSP and it's already doing things the most compatible way i can (just tacking a "Postfix" on the end of the method) so it doesn't look like there's anything i can to do increase compatibility.

So yeah let me know what they say. And thanks for tracking it down! If they can't or won't fix it i'll have to add a note about incompatibility.
zaphodjoe 31. juli 2022 kl. 16:43
I finally tracked it down. It's Fast Track. It speeds up my game a lot so I really want to keep it. That is a manually installed Mod by Peter Han. I posted a message on the Klei forum for Fast Track, hopefully it can be fixed. I will let you know if I get a response.

I don't know of any that interfere, no... even Thermal Tooltips which does the same thing just adds the info twice. It's a bit of work but you could try a binary search to find the culprit. Disable all the recent mods and check to make sure it works again, then re-enable half of them. Then if it works that half is good, and if it doesn't the incompatible must be in there. You can do it again until you narrow it down to a single mod.
zaphodjoe 28. juli 2022 kl. 17:21
I have like 60 mods or so.. Do you know of any that interfere? This was one of my first and I never had an issue until recently. I added 20+ mods in the last month. I don't have any others that deal with this type of thing. I did get a different version but it's not as good as yours.
mesi  [ophavsmand] 27. juli 2022 kl. 2:03
Hmm, it does appear to still be working for me. Do you have any other mod that could be interfering?
zaphodjoe 26. juli 2022 kl. 15:17
This stopped working. I love this mod, can you please fix it? It doesn't crash but it does not show the info anymore.

Thanks all :)
@sweetie I made a mod that shows requirements on completed buildings, and also room traits on both views. I already can't play without it. https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2612676878

great mod! I have found this kind of mod for a long time <3
Suicide Commando 23. sep. 2021 kl. 10:37
Ohhh nice! This is exactly the mod I never knew I needed. Having to look up those properties through other means when I wanted to build something was always a pain.

tysm! looking forward to it!! :)

Yeah that really annoys me too. I'm currently working on adding some info to geysers, but i think i'll bump this one up to next on my list, at least if it's as easy to do as it looks :)
sweaty 18. sep. 2021 kl. 17:28
one thing, I always look for intake values on buildings but it only shows output. I think it'd be really helpful if it showed how much material it's processing per second.

> i could be mistaken mesi but i think strength is for deciding how long it takes to be mined?

This one actually does use "hardness" (i just checked).

But when a dupe punches the wall and breaks it... that uses "strength". Yeesh.

@Laughing Man I'm testing with it added in but it feels like a bit too much info. It also breaks translations as there's no in-game string for it. I'll add it in when i figure out how to add mod options and make it optional.
Laughing Man 16. sep. 2021 kl. 20:30
"Wow, "Snow" is 0.3... snow is actually stronger than sedimentary rock." This made me lol...

Yeah man, please include it

Bunyan 16. sep. 2021 kl. 7:40
Fantastic mod! I'm always in favor of more information so you actually know what you are dealing with in the game! Well done. Well done.
mesi  [ophavsmand] 14. sep. 2021 kl. 22:50
Huh, apparently there's a totally hidden "strength" variable for materials. Igneous rock is 1.0. Granite is 1.5. Sedimentary rock is 0.2... the same value as clay. Yikes. I might actually add this in as i don't think it's even displayed in game anywhere.

Wow, "Snow" is 0.3... snow is actually stronger than sedimentary rock.
sweaty 14. sep. 2021 kl. 22:16
yeah I mostly just check hardness for pressure containment ability. I think that it is factored in somehow because sometimes I build stuff out of a material that's too soft and my build starts breaking (eg mafic rock tiles near space, sedimentary rock near a lot of liquid)
it's not hugely important though so I'm not sure if it's worth adding. I just want to see more there than what's in thermal tooltips and that was my first thought hehe
mesi  [ophavsmand] 14. sep. 2021 kl. 20:59
Thanks for the comments everyone :)

@sweetie I'm not sure, is it used for anything in buildings? The only use for hardness i know of is whether pips can plant in a tile, and they can only plant in natural tiles anyway. The wiki says that hardness determines pressure containment ability, but the listed formula for liquid (also on the wiki) doesn't actually include hardness at all.

@Pyro that's a good point... insulation will be wrong as well. Sadly it doesn't look like i can add in the corrected value. The game code that writes the description can't see what it's being used for at all, it only sees the material element.
Pyro 14. sep. 2021 kl. 16:40
It's not always the same as the item's values, but it should be better than guessing ;)

Eg. Radiant pipe would be 2x (or some such)
sweaty 14. sep. 2021 kl. 14:00
It would be nice if this had material hardness. Any plans to add it?
