Thanks a lot!

yeah projected lights don't care about the light origin, as it works more for map lights, like ones advanced light entities use. i don't quite recall much ways to make projected textures not affect stuff, as coloring entities with alpha between 254-1 will disable shadows from projected lights, but not that entity getting lit up.

there's also option within projected lights to only light up 1 specific entity, but there's no reverse way to exclude entities like that. so far only way for you to do what you want may be to record/screenshot what you want with csm enabled and disabled, get also a black/white "mask" for that prop, and do it through post editing
yok 31. aug. kl. 6:44
Yes, but it affects the props irregardless of their set lighting origin. Thus I am unable to use the CSM's angley sun with something else in the scene which I do not want to be affected by CSM's sunlight. How do you suppose I could achieve that?
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 30. aug. kl. 21:01
iirc CSM i've seen on workshop is just 2 orthographic projected lights
yok 30. aug. kl. 20:14
Is there a way for me to use this with CSM? According to my experiments, it does not work with it since the sunlight of the CSM is a difference sun than the default sun, I presume.
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 1. mar. kl. 1:44
does that happen with other addons disabled? you can quickly disable workshop addons from within the game, through "addons" on main menu, and also save currently enabled ones as a preset to enable them back up, just in case. though it is only "quickly" if your storage ain't dying
ßácõñ 1. mar. kl. 1:40
"menu" as in, Showing you what buttons to push and what they do.
Example: Set Origin, top left corner just tells you name of tool. The info below is missing and when you click models, doesn't even register.
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 1. mar. kl. 1:30
it had a menu?
ßácõñ 1. mar. kl. 1:17
Seems this addon is broken
The menu doesn't even appear anymore.
Maj. Mestaic 15. juli 2024 kl. 13:03
It does work, turns out I was just very unlucky on where I placed stuff. it works fine. sry
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 15. juli 2024 kl. 6:29
check it with just the tool enabled in construct just to make sure, tool should work, then try to hunt down what may be the conflicting stuff if tool works and you want to do that
Maj. Mestaic 15. juli 2024 kl. 6:01
it could be the the maps shader, but I had the ragdoll in a lit area, clicked it then a prop, yeeted the prop in darkness and nothing happned. I did the same with the ragdoll in a dark area and prop in a light area and nothing changed, im gonna test another map tho
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 15. juli 2024 kl. 0:00
moving the prop in differently lit areas of the map, or it's all within same-lit areas? iirc only map lights count, so no entity lights like lamps would transfer. though dunno about some of the lights from advanced light entities
Maj. Mestaic 14. juli 2024 kl. 18:48
so I used the light origin tool and it doesnt work. I spawn a ragdoll and a prop, click the ragdoll then the prop, then nothing happens. I move the prop around and nothing happens. what am i doing wrong?
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 23. mar. 2024 kl. 9:42
Doesn't happen on my end. You don't happen to bind anything to stand pose tool, perhaps it is being activated by accident or you're using Turn into Dynamic prop tool which turns it into a prop_effect
AEONsGG 23. mar. 2024 kl. 9:22
Whenever i press left click on a ragdoll after posing, the ragdoll reverts back to the original stand pose? Am i doing something wrong?
themarios1999 5. nov. 2023 kl. 8:36
That sounds useful. Thanks.
bloodyface 1. juni 2023 kl. 12:07
i found it :steamhappy:
Rylan 1. maj 2023 kl. 12:56
give it the ability to save and it would be good
Adam 󠀡 6: 7. sep. 2022 kl. 21:28
alright, thank you for the information
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 7. sep. 2022 kl. 21:23
it doesn't get duped either as it doesn't make any entities to store information that lighting origin stuff is applied
Adam 󠀡 6: 7. sep. 2022 kl. 21:12
Why doesn't this work on saves?
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 4. juli 2022 kl. 13:33
yeah just checked on my end, gmod doesn't save prop_dynamic, i guess as a safety thing for effect props as they are a tie of a "prop_effect" which is a melon with that circle sprite and prop_dynamic being the actual model, i guess that's why door stool was breaking prop effects for saves as it probably was overriding prop_dynamics to be saveable, which caused prop_effects to also drop prop_dynamics that you couldn't interact with.

but yeah i guess now you could use the turn into effect option of turn into dynamic prop tool as those will get actually saved and they also more or less work without issues with ragdolls. i'll keep turning into dynamic prop as an option however, even though it's inferior
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 4. juli 2022 kl. 6:19
will dynamic prop entity get picked up by the duplicator tool?
4. juli 2022 kl. 4:07
there is a bug that dynamic models in saves do not appear
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 3. juli 2022 kl. 5:36
updated, added an ability to turn into dynamic prop tool thing to turn entities into prop_effects as those work better if you want to take away physics from ragdolls. although they don't seem to retain their eye posing capabilities
Smoke Detector 23. apr. 2022 kl. 11:51
I've started to get a issue like this for this, but it's for the hardware tf2 ragdolls
only one that isn't affected by it is the scout model
Turbojosh 7. apr. 2022 kl. 21:32
thank you so much i was losing my mind trying to fix a bug that makes bonemerged clothes completely black for like an hour and your tool fixed it, i love you more than you will ever know <33333333333333333333333333
K1rb 20. mar. 2022 kl. 18:43
thanks for this mod :)
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 19. mar. 2022 kl. 18:02
they're probably in the same map lighting area? maybe try putting prop in some area which isn't as lit, like some shadow or dark room in construct and check the ragdoll
ben es jamin 19. mar. 2022 kl. 17:55
Well, I put the prop half next to my ragdoll as a test but nothing
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 19. mar. 2022 kl. 17:53
and where the prop that you've set the lighting origin to be at, in some place with different lighting? it's mostly stuff like how intense the map light is, not stuff like projected lamps and light entities
ben es jamin 19. mar. 2022 kl. 17:51
Exactly, I think I explained something wrong but when I do that nothing happens, the character continues with the default lighting
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 19. mar. 2022 kl. 17:38
first you'd have to click on a ragdoll which would have its lighting origin changed, then on a prop from which lighting info would be taken from, then you can see that ragdoll will change its brightness based on where (how lit up the area) the prop is, basically
ben es jamin 19. mar. 2022 kl. 17:34
sorry for my ignorance but I have a problem that I don't know how to fix, when I try to do what the tool tells me to do nothing happens, left click then click the prop and the ragdoll is still the same :c

Zamn!
marin 10. okt. 2021 kl. 4:52
omg finally!
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 10. okt. 2021 kl. 4:48
Just a quick note - figured out how bonemerge/parenting stuff works lua-wise, so now if you set lighting origin of a ragdoll that has cosmetics bonemerged to it, all bonemerged things will get their origin set to the selected prop as well! And yeah that works with easy bonemerge tool as well.
MisterMann 6. sep. 2021 kl. 15:31
Well this help out a lot in not needing to go into commands to repeat the process a hundred times.
marin 6. sep. 2021 kl. 3:03
This has been really helpful for me, so thanks!
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 3. sep. 2021 kl. 8:45
yeah, perhaps you were trying to do it on physics props? doesn't seem to work on those. or something funny happened with setname command
Pancreas Jones 3. sep. 2021 kl. 8:42
I remember you were able to do through console commands but never got it to work
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 3. sep. 2021 kl. 0:51
super parent tool works, actually! gonna edit description a bit then to be less misleading
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 2. sep. 2021 kl. 23:03
i seem to be subscribed to the super multi parent, but not the other one. think i also had some other parent tools, probably will do a thorough check once i get back home
NextKurome76TheSoldier 2. sep. 2021 kl. 22:56
wierd, im using the same tool
PenolAkushari  [ophavsmand] 2. sep. 2021 kl. 22:51
ah, cool. for some reason multi parent tool i had refused to select it, perhaps it had a filter that didn't include prop_dynamic
NextKurome76TheSoldier 2. sep. 2021 kl. 22:32
you can actually parent a prop_dynamic
ChoEv 2. sep. 2021 kl. 15:40
Nice work, this is a great shiet (in a good way) I needed.
