Gorgeous old ships. Just keep them away from the Bermuda Triangle...
... because the wave frequencies in that area are roughly equal to these ships' length, meaning in a storm they could end up with the bow and stern on top and nothing supporting the middle and vice versa. Combine that with a career of hauling highly acidic coal, minimal maintenance, and being pressed into ore haulage that they were not designed for leading to overloading and/or worse, underloading, and now you know what really happened to USS Cyclops. That, or aliens.
