No problem. Thank you for updating. Much appreciated.
Lewa263  [author] 18 Sep @ 12:38pm
It should be working with the Coronations stuff now. Sorry, I haven't been paying attention to CK3 for a few months and didn't even notice a DLC had come out.
GandalfXLD 12 Sep @ 4:18am
I think this mod needs updating. It appears to conflict with the Coronations update quite a bit.
HeirandtheSpare 27 May @ 6:11pm
Tested it out and works great now. Thank you.
HeirandtheSpare 27 May @ 11:31am
Cool!
Lewa263  [author] 27 May @ 8:24am
It should actually work now. Sorry!
Lewa263  [author] 27 May @ 8:01am
Oops, it turns out that I missed a change that Paradox made so the event I had hijacked was no longer being fired even though it was still in their event file. I'll have it fixed shortly.
HeirandtheSpare 26 May @ 8:24pm
I did, but nothing changed, there were no mothers to be found. I"m sort of wondering if it is conflicting with a mod called Random Faces Fix, but I'm not sure why it would. I love this mod, it's totally essential. I hope that you fix it soon. Thank you for responding!
Lewa263  [author] 26 May @ 11:57am
@HeirandtheSpare I have to modify the game rules event file for this mod, so if any other mod is also changing that file, it could be the source of your problems. Try moving this one below other mods and see if it makes a difference.
HeirandtheSpare 26 May @ 10:51am
This mod no longer works for me, at all. I started a new game and nobody had any wives. Either than or another mod is blocking it, but I can't imagine which one.
HeirandtheSpare 28 Apr @ 8:23pm
@Funny Purple Suit Man I agree. Some of the ages of the mothers just don't make any sense.
Funny Purple Suit Man 4 Dec, 2024 @ 10:35am
Wouldn't it make more sense to find the age of the eldest child and then add a random number over 16 to it so generated parents aren't always the exact same age as their spouse and potentially too old to have had kids when their children were born?
HeirandtheSpare 1 Jun, 2024 @ 11:47pm
I have been playing with this mod for a long time, but I keep seeing that there are a lot of Irish rulers, especially in the 9th century, that still have no mothers at all. Please update.
Darknight36 28 Feb, 2024 @ 4:00pm
Does this still work for the current version?
alegdansk 21 Feb, 2024 @ 8:15am
Can you please create a mod that generates also brothers and sisters of Popes, Bishops and Chaplains? 🙏🙂
It's totally not realistic that clerical characters have no family 😐
Thank you 😉
fisto the robo 14 Jul, 2023 @ 7:33am
Could you add a version for lord of the rings?
CaliBlueBear 6 Jul, 2023 @ 10:13am
Where in the load order should this go? Should it go before or after mods that add cultures and modify the map? Do you know at what point the game generates characters? I can't seem to get this to work.
RisingRam 25 Jun, 2023 @ 12:32pm
Is this compatible with Rajas of Asia?
Lewa263  [author] 14 May, 2023 @ 9:20am
@zacdeath Thanks for notifying me! I missed a small change in how events are now being scripted that was making the game ignore the event that spawns the new characters. I tested it after making that change and it works for me now. Hopefully it will work for you as well.

@GabWinter Could you explain in more detail what is going wrong? It works for many people. Either you misunderstand what the mod does or you have another mod that is overwriting the game_rule_events file.
GabWinter 13 May, 2023 @ 6:20am
@zacdeath this mod has never worked XD
I have tested alone and it has never done what on the description it says it does...
zacdeath 13 May, 2023 @ 2:54am
I don't know why but the mod doesn't seem to be working, which is weird since the EK2 version seems to work just fine when I roll back.
Sungseon 23 Mar, 2023 @ 9:30am
this is essential, why isnt it in the base game?
Lewa263  [author] 14 Dec, 2022 @ 7:06pm
That's not something I change, though. That's Steam Workshop. I guess you'll have to unsubscribe and resubscribe.
Holger 14 Dec, 2022 @ 12:09pm
I did not mean the descriptor.mod file, that has been chanded. It's the ugc_2514207912.mod file, that's not changed yet.
Lewa263  [author] 14 Dec, 2022 @ 11:56am
It didn't change? That's the only file that I did change. I'll try reuploading, I guess.
Holger 14 Dec, 2022 @ 7:45am
Sorry for nit-picking, but you forgot to update the generate_mother.mod file.
FunGaming44 22 Nov, 2022 @ 4:27pm
as @fisto the robo said it would be great if it would also do this for dead historical characters
fisto the robo 29 Aug, 2022 @ 2:31am
or i should ask at least for landed characters to have some earthly origins
fisto the robo 28 Aug, 2022 @ 10:08am
maybe im pushing it but is it possible in this engine to generate missing mothers/fathers to dead historical characters?
Lost Nomad 25 Aug, 2022 @ 6:27am
As per Sod's Law as soon as I wrote that comment, I found the problem, so there's no problem with your mod now
Lost Nomad 25 Aug, 2022 @ 6:14am
There are no additional game rules and no conflicts with any other mods?
Ren 11 Jul, 2022 @ 7:45am
awesome, thanks for the updates!
Lewa263  [author] 27 Jun, 2022 @ 9:00am
@Ren I finally did the thing you suggested, since I learned how. It now selects a random pre-existing child and copies their inheritable appearance up to the generated parent.
fisto the robo 20 Jun, 2022 @ 1:28am
will check it out :47_thumb_up:
Lewa263  [author] 19 Jun, 2022 @ 9:12am
That's a good idea, @fisto the robo, and I finally got around to implementing it. As always, let me know if it's not working. I'm always worried that what works on my end won't make it through the Workshop intact. Also, this one will definitely run into conflicts with mods that touch the vanilla game rules, since I had to add options to a vanilla game rule.
fisto the robo 7 Jun, 2022 @ 11:18am
Good mod but adding children sometimes ruin start date balance. Is it possible to add a rule option to ONLY add mothers so preexisting children arent motherless and fathers arent amoebas?
Lewa263  [author] 24 Mar, 2022 @ 2:08pm
There are things that I understand, and many more that I do not. As far as I know, this mod worked fine a couple of weeks ago, but today it did not work. I have fixed it, but in doing so, it has become less compatible with other mods. It now rewrites the game rule event file, because apparently adding my own file to rewrite one event from that file is no longer good enough. On the bright side, I also fixed an oversight where this mod probably never worked when you used the AI Only version of the Generate Families game rule.
Lewa263  [author] 14 Mar, 2022 @ 6:16pm
This mod does in fact still work the same with the current 1.5.1 patch, unlike some other mods that still show up as compatible in the launcher because many of us entered 1.5.* as the game version in our .mod files. I figure that I can't be the only one currently trying to figure out which apparently compatible mods are causing crashes. But at least I can let you know that it isn't mine.
GLCW2 1 Mar, 2022 @ 11:55pm
I don't know what I did or what happened, but now it appears to be working. I'm so glad it works as this is one of my "must have" mods. Thank you for making this mod!
Ren 18 Feb, 2022 @ 2:56pm
seems to work for me
Lewa263  [author] 18 Feb, 2022 @ 2:40pm
Weird. It works for me, and my local copy is the same as what I uploaded here.My standard check is all of the random tribal dudes in West Africa. Without this mod, they all have sons and no wives. With this mod, they have sons and wives who are set as the mothers of the sons.
GLCW2 17 Feb, 2022 @ 1:56pm
Mod isn't working for me. I started a game with no other mods to verify that it wasn't a conflict and set all game options to default. I have unsubscribed and resubscribed as well. Still no mothers generated.
Lewa263  [author] 8 Feb, 2022 @ 1:13pm
Was it really not working, or was it only the little icon that said it was for an old version? Nothing related to the Generate Families game rule has been altered, even with today's new patch 1.5.0. I did go ahead and change the listed version that the mod is compatible with. Please inform me if it's no longer working.
GabWinter 21 Nov, 2021 @ 7:52am
Sad, not working now...
Ren 17 Jun, 2021 @ 8:50am
Any way to make the generated mother's resemble their preexisting offspring? Maybe by making her a DNA clone of the first son that was already there and somehow generating a few variations?
Morven 16 Jun, 2021 @ 8:45pm
@Irisiane
Yes this will be compatible with my mods and you're right, it should go a long way to helping with the early game woman-drought issue that becomes acute when the Less Old Wives mod takes all the grannies off the marriage market at the start before enough girls have being born and enter marriageable age.

For my mod there might also need to be a mechanism to generate a few unattached maidens at each court so men without children or wives have enough early game candidates to marry from, but I'd ask Lewa263 if he thinks that would be within or outside the scope of his mod, otherwise I can do something and either add it to Less Old Wives or do something standalone, but very happy to recommend people here.
Morven 16 Jun, 2021 @ 8:45pm
Cool, that's great, the proof is in the testing. Event overrides did frustrate me on the event mods I've done (posted about it in the PP thread linked below), even with 00_ and zz_ filename attempts. Some people on PP posted that the event override behavior wasn't consistent (or it could change between versions).
Lewa263  [author] 16 Jun, 2021 @ 4:40pm
@Morven I believe this is working with my z_ file. I tested it with the Tales of Ireland mod (since the other total overhauls that I'm subscribed to don't seem to have single fathers/mothers to test it on) and it did correctly generate a wife for a ruler who had children, as well as still generating the whole family for other rulers who had none.

@Irisiane It should work fine with Morven's mod. Theirs doesn't touch any of the files that mine does, as far as I can see.
Irisiane 16 Jun, 2021 @ 2:12pm
Is this mod compatible with morven's? Especially the granny marriage nerf!

If they are then this mod may help with the early game lack of women.
Morven 16 Jun, 2021 @ 9:49am
My experience from v1.3 is that you were right the first time and need to overwrite the vanilla "game_rule_events.txt" by file (with the same vanilla file name and all the vanilla events from the namespace/txt file you modded the event from) for it to work. It does make event modding less compatible with different mods when trying to mod events from the same txt file/namespace, and everything else outside of events can be modded by key, but to mod vanilla events it is(was?) the only way to do it.
