You can also delete this mod in the mod folder in the game's directory to ensure that the most recent version is installed the next time you launch the game.

Just uploaded a new version that will fix it. The problem was with previous installations prior to the update a few days ago and how Steam handles updates (you don't redownload files you already have), and I should have caught that.

You can test it out if you enable the debug console (disable it after you're done since you can't earn achievements), and type playsfx 598. You shouldn't hear anything if this mod is working.

It's strange because i don't have any other mods that modifies the sounds.xml. i simply subscribed the mod, enabled it as the others i have but then it seems to not work. i can still hear the discussion between mom and dad

@Velgarn Just checked it in game, and it's working fine. Make sure that you activated this mod from the main menu. You press tab to activate mods while in the mod menu. Black text means it's activate, while gray text means it's deactivated. If you have other mods that edit sounds.xml, then that could also be the culprit.

Or, if you have multiple mods that edit sounds.xml, you could just edit one of those files yourself. ID 598, 599, 600, and 601 are these clips, so you'd just need to remove the name in those lines (Mom and Dad Clip 1 mastered.ogg etc), and that should also stop the clips from playing.

Oh, and you'll also need to add the word "mastered" to each of the sound files, so it is exactly like the original files. For example, the file included in the mod is named Mom and Dad Clip 1.ogg, but if you're doing a manual installation, it should be Mom and Dad Clip 1 mastered.ogg. Just make sure you do that for all four files.

@camwoodstock For some reason, these sound files act differently than all the other sound files. Normally, you can just replace the sound files and as long as they're named correctly and follow the correct folder paths, the modded files will take precedence over the normal game files. For whatever reason, that doesn't work with these four files, and pointing the id's to some other sound file, or erasing it in the sound.xm, is the only way to solve that (that I've seen).

The only alternative is to do a manual installation. And this mod already includes blanked out sound files. Here are the instructions for that:

Can you try an alternative fix that just makes the associated audio files just be blanked out? I tried using this, and evidently I think a mod is conflicting with sounds.xml, because I got hit with "I SPENT IT. IT'S GONE. GET OVER IT" as I promptly went to the options and said "I muted it. It's quiet. Get over it."

This doesn't seem to work. Maybe it is conflicting with the soundtrack menu mods and those other dependencies? I still get the voiceover lines.

Thank god! It was awful having to listen to this dialogue every time. Not even because it's bad ... but it was traumatic hearing it over and over.

This removes the fighting audio heard between Mother and Dad? If so, thank god. I have severe trauma when it comes to parental fighting and it's extremely relieving that someone would remove the clips.
