Hey guys! I'm still working on the mod. Just wait for me to finish the kingdom of Lithuania and I'll publish it.

Borignev:

Well, I'm not sure about that. Kashubian may officially belong to the same branch as Pomeranian, but I personally don't agree with this classification.

As I see it, at the certain point, the Old Polish, a very beautiful language, got spread too quickly over other Slavic languages territories, which damaged them all (including today Polish) and created this "Lechtic" category we know today. But that's not what they really are historically.

Also, Kashubian is very east Slavic languages in comparison with the original Pomeranian language, which was very west . That's why I made it a Low Sorbian, despite it's not much better, because it's technically also quite Polabian and damaged by Polish (especially the pronunciation).

ZivDero:

There actually is a discussion thread for this kind of suggestion, so if you should have written it there. :/

And about the answer...

Your suggestion isn't bad. You translated it as "Polzen'", which is basically the same as my " Poleznoye". The only difference is that "Polzen'" (Ползень) is (or should be) feminine, while " Poleznoye" (Полезное) is neuter. This change happened because... well, it's a Slavic thing. I can't explain it well in the limited space of comments, since it's not a discussion.
ZivDero 8. feb. 2022 kl. 17:56
Oh and having googled what I came up with it seems like it actually had some precedent in history as well.
ZivDero 8. feb. 2022 kl. 17:55
So I decided to actually dig into the etymology of Czech Plzen and it's connected in the end to the word "to crawl" (P-S pъlzati) via some shifts with wetness. So I think a correct Russian name for Plzen would be Polzen (Ползень).
Borignev 6. feb. 2022 kl. 6:35
Ayo, Kashubian would be much more accurate for the Pomeranian culture than Lower Sorbian. If you would need help hit me up

@Nikdo yeah i guess i've missed that part from our history though, but never mind, i've learned again something new. And it's never to late learning new things in life. At first sight i thought, honestly it's can be only a joke wehen i saw this ingame.. but it seems to be the right way. I was looking for some good mods and so found yours also, don't had the time yet to try it out, but im gonna give it a try and after that, report you back.

kali979: This wiki page [en.wikipedia.org] says that "The Hungarian endonym is Magyar , which is derived from Old Hungarian Mogyër ", so I guess they are working with that.

By the way, you're the first Hungarian player who ever reached to me. How do you feel about this mod? Hungarian is one of the least supported languages with only less than 30% being translated...
K.A.L.I 1. dec. 2021 kl. 20:19
As a hungarian player, im deeply disappointed, that simply the word "magyar" was wrote like "Mogyër".. i never met this version ever anywhere in my life, or am i've missed something? By the way, i play the game in english or german sometimes and the names are in Hungary catastrophal. Anyway, im waiting until the new dlc next year and we'll see what that brings out on the table. Of course, thank you for your work. :steamhappy:

Hi guys!

Despite being on hiatus, I still managed to make some slow progress, so there is another version of the mod. I should be more active during this month, but since the new year, it can be hard for me to connect to the internet again.

As you probably know, the CKIII: Royal Court DLC should be released on February 8, 2022 and as far I can say, the mod will need an immediate update to be working with that version again. Since I'll also have to entirely reprogram the Mod dumper for this, it may take a while, but let's hope no drastic changes will be required.

Have fun!

Keyboard Cat: I'm pretty much aware of that. In the Central Europe, Czechs, Silesians, Polabians, Pommeranians, Anhalt Slavs and Hungarian Slavs spoke pretty much by the same language which I'm calling "Bohemian" right now and the situation on Balkan was quite similar. (Except for Vlachs, who aren't Slavs, just like the Germans in the Central Europe.)

The unmodded game isn't using the historical names either (in most cases), so I'm just simulating the same for more cultures. That's why I'm calling it "semi-historical" in the description. It's not totaly historical, but it's not random either. I'm spending a lot of time on every single name to make the best translation (to modern languages) I can provide.

Romanians didn't exist until the 18th century. So no idea what these Wallachian / Romanian thing is about, same with Serbian. Before the 18th century, like everyone else in the Balkans, spoke a version of Bulgarian, since the First and Second BG Empires have influenced the region more than the Byzantines and Ottomans.

xxslimagxx: To not spam a discussion here, I have deleted my previous answer(s) and remove it to the "Suggest Bohemian names" discussion.

For Pomerania, Kashubian might be better. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Slavic_languages

Thank you for your work
xxslimagxx 16. mar. 2021 kl. 7:05
Please do not translate from Czech to Slovak and vice versa. The city of Nitra was never called Nútra. Zittau-Razava is nonsense ( https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%BDitava ). Could you please also make the names of the duchies and kingdoms?
Nikdo  [ophavsmand] 14. mar. 2021 kl. 1:25
Hi guys!

I have updated the mod to the version 1.0.1.5, which now also support Polabian , Pomeranian and Vlach culure. I know that the Upper Sorbian, Lower Sorbian and Romanian doesn't represent them completely right, but I think they're the best manageable option here.

I've also added a LOT of names in German, which I'm not a native speak of, so please let me know if you find something that sounds off. (But please don't forget that some holdings are named after the rivers, which names I've also translated, so that may be also the reason for the shift).

And if there is someone who would correct my Upper/Lower Sorbian spelling that would be also nice. I think I've got quite far having no guidance whatsoever, but I can't shake off that feeling something isn't right.

Have fun!
PhazezGova 7. mar. 2021 kl. 2:27
Okay wonderful, many thanks :-)
Nikdo  [ophavsmand] 6. mar. 2021 kl. 10:30
Absolutely. I'm not changing anything "important", so it may be even achievement-friendly, but I don't really know (didn't try it).

By the way, today I had found a way how to more effectively process the German names, so forget what I've written before, there's gonna be a huge increase in the next update (but still don't ever expect 100%, tha's impossible for me).
PhazezGova 6. mar. 2021 kl. 4:06
Oh okay xD. Then I got it wrong. Is it savegame compatible? Thank you for your work.
Nikdo  [ophavsmand] 5. mar. 2021 kl. 13:33
PhazezGova: Honestly? Probably never.

660 holdings represents only the current extent of the mod, so after adding the kingdom of Croatia, the cap will increase to 740 or so. And than there're other kingdoms to come.

Of course I'm working on it, so the total sum may eventually overcome the 660, but that'll be still hardly over 60% of the potential.

As I've said above, I'm not a native speaker, so there is a clear limit of what I can do. However, German and English are probably the only ones non-Slavic languages that will ever be over 30%, because I actually know them. :)
PhazezGova 5. mar. 2021 kl. 0:28
When will the German translation be 660? :)
Nikdo  [ophavsmand] 3. mar. 2021 kl. 2:54
In the next update, I'll be adding Vlach, Polabian and Pomeranian culture.

After that, I plan to work on whole Kingdom of Croatia, including Slavonia and Croatian culture.

With the way I'm going (doing the empire of Slavia first), Austria probably stay omitted for a long, long time. Sorry.
xxslimagxx 2. mar. 2021 kl. 11:10
Great work. Could Austria and Slovenia be added?
