On a side note, does this mission still run okay for you? I haven't updated it in a few years and was curious if everything still worked properly or not.
Thats listed in the description above. Under Important Information (blue text).
Couldnt get the link to work in this comment for some reason.
Loot is pretty scarce in Ravage by default. You can only find stuff off AI, like you said. The loot issue is one of the primary reasons I use VA nowadays.
This was mentioned in the description:
"Loot does NOT spawn on the ground in this mission by default. You have to find loot by searching crates and furniture or by finding it off killed AI. If you want loot to spawn on the ground (which I HIGHLY recommend), you have to use "Vandeanson's Apocalypse" and enable its "Dynamic Loot" feature. Check out the "VA Settings" document under "Vandeanson's Apocalypse Settings" to know how to do this."
Loot balance is a regular problem in Ravage missions, especially if they are made to be multiplayer. You need to make sure there is enough loot for (almost) everyone to be able to play, while still keep the survival part (hunger, first, diseases and wounds, lack of ammo) interesting.
When playing with basic needed mods (Ravage, Cup core unit weapons, Cba) there is almost no loot whatsoever :
- 9 out of 10 containers i search are empty (wrecks, dirt piles, trashcans, closets, lockers, kitchens...).
- No loose loot anywhere.
So the only way is to kill scavs. But population seems very low. Only scavs i found in 30min were INDEP and not hostile to me, i still killed them because i was hungry, and in need of a bag.
There should be other ways, for players who don't want to KOS.
In order to load the mission through the editor you would have to de-pbo the mission and put the mission folder in your "mpmissions" folder.
1: Create a new folder on your desktop to house the mission files. You'll need this shortly.
2: Install PBO Manager https://github.com/winseros/pboman3/releases
3: Open PBO Manager, then click the green "Open File" button on the top left of the window.
4: Browse to "Documents/ArmA 3 - Other Profiles/yourusername/Saved/steamMPMission"
^^If you didn't make another profile in ArmA 3 before, then it would be "Documents/ArmA 3/yourusername/Saved/steamMPMission" instead (I believe)
6: Shift-click to highlight everything in the mission folder. Right-click then select "Extract all". Extract to the folder on your desktop that was mentioned earlier.
7: Now just rename the folder that's on your desktop to:
WickedLands.chernarusredux
You can change the name if you'd like, but make sure there's no spaces. "chernarusredux" is all lower-case.
8: Put this folder in your "mpmissions" folder:
"Documents/ArmA 3 - Other Profiles/yourusername/mpmissions"
9: Go back into ArmA 3 and you should now be able to open this mission in the editor (if you dont see the option then double-check that you selected this version and not the Steam one
I still plan on looking into GRAD with @TenuredCloud soon. I'm also still looking into trader safezones as well. The next update will probably be a bit further out this time, and will in all likelihood, include those two features.
Also, I'm aware of a possible bug with the dynamic weather script, particularly a bug that can occur during foggy conditions (it manifests as a white line on the screen). I'll also be looking into that.
Stay tuned.
I'm aware of some issues after the most recent update, such as INDIBI2 not saving player positions, and the give money script not working properly. These problems will all be addressed ASAP, either later today or tomorrow.
Also, in order to sell stuff at the traders, remember to click the drop down menu on the UPPER RIGHT of the screen. I thought the script was broken until I realized that the drop down menu was even there.
Here's a video explaining it (I included a link to the video in the FAQ as well):
