Just got back to Kenshi modding after a while...fired it up without even looking what mods I had in my list, just curious if it'd work at all - and voila: No hiccups, no CTD, no freezing, just played 6 hours uninterrupted.
Bought a nice home in World's End, start climbing the tech/research tree, then I stumble over this and first was like "WTF? This is sweet! But where the heck did that come from?" . Had completely forgotten I installed this gem! Thanks so much for this Cattrina!

@freza: A month late, only just now stumbled over this mod, but my 5 cents on your CTD issue (if you haven't solved it yet):

CTD on build menu maybe due to missing meshes/textures. Check the mod's sub-folders, if there's actually any files in them. Sometimes the workshop download gets buggered, so you get only the .mod file and the folders, but no content. Un-subbing/re-subbing to the mod and making sure all asset files got downloaded correctly should fix that.

Alternatively, can you not consider that
Anrhaa 22. maj 2023 kl. 10:30
I know this supposed to be a cheat, but could you consider doubling the material cost and halving the power output (and perhaps making it to requiere 50 or 100 fuels to work forever)? So it doesn't feel too cheaty

Hi, can I take this mod and your other works for my build?)

@Aka Hitomi, no worries not planning to change this. It is meant to be a cheat XD
Krafty 6. feb. 2021 kl. 8:43
or you could make one more version of this mod for the masochists , but me ...i like it just fine
Krafty 6. feb. 2021 kl. 8:42
don t change it to be harder to get , this will help more people get in to the game, im getting in to it because of this mod

Jumping off some earlier comments about the research cost, I feel it would be more balanced for this to be tech level 5/6 and cost AI cores and/or engineering research as it's far superior to any other power supply given there's ground water. 10k cats is negligible by the time you need this, and 500 power is insane output for a single generator, so it makes sense for it to be harder to obtain.

Great mod regardless. I might use it even in its current state just because the only real difference between this and 20 small wind generators is space and aesthetic by the time you need this much power.

000h :beeped:
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 24. dec. 2020 kl. 10:38
@Yuuko the other power generator is up
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 21. dec. 2020 kl. 22:28
Do not worry, I have plans for the ashlands!
YuukoRespecter 21. dec. 2020 kl. 11:29
I am cry, thank you for the reply, keeping the mod it's a nice addition for people who've earned it and hope to see more great things from you in the future!
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 21. dec. 2020 kl. 11:28
@YuukoRespecter it is, geothermal tech works only if there is ground water in real life too.
YuukoRespecter 21. dec. 2020 kl. 9:10
I dont know if this is intended or not but because of the water requirement it can't be built in the ashlands.

Money is not a much of a problem usually, I'd prefer if it was just hard to research. You could make a lower tech version that can be placed anywhere but requires water as input. Although I hate the idea of hauling water, just another idea...
Freeasabird🕊 21. dec. 2020 kl. 2:06
It doesn't make much sense for it to cost money, when none of the other techs require it. why not just make it's schematics rare, maybe defended by a white Gorillo or something. make it cost 4 books and be lvl 5 tech. (tech goes up to lvl 5 yeah?)
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 20. dec. 2020 kl. 21:42
@Freeasabird to make you feel you earned the tech, so it does not feel so much cheating. Also it is meant for later game.
Freeasabird🕊 19. dec. 2020 kl. 22:55
why does it require money to research it? :/
InsideOutlander 19. dec. 2020 kl. 6:27
Ah I see now. Thank you.
And thank you for the offer of knowledge. I may come back to you in the future.
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 18. dec. 2020 kl. 11:54
@InsideOutlander it requires land water ATM the fuel is to start the pump. When the pump is running it will use its own power. Yeah, that is a good idea for advancing. Let me know if you want to learn :)
InsideOutlander 17. dec. 2020 kl. 23:07
Is it possible to add in a location requirement, like for mines; perhaps based on the presence of stone when prospecting? I would also argue that since it is geothermal power it requires water as "fuel" to function, since most geothermal afaik is a form of steam power.

Maybe an advanced version could ignore the water requirement since there are highly refined materials that can be used to generate electricity more directly from geothermal sources. Maybe requiring copper alloys and spring steel as well as iron plates and electrical components.

Just an idea. Wish I had the time and energy to learn to mod so I could stop kibbitzing and put my money where my mouth is.
Radiosity 15. dec. 2020 kl. 11:32
Though with 500 power, I'd say 100 iron plates might basically be reasonable? It takes 50 to make top tier iron refineries and the like, so 100 isn't much of a stretch, assuming you did actually mean 200 plates.

Seemed like a lot, but... eh, dunno, I suppose it's not THAT much higher than other late-game items :)
Radiosity 15. dec. 2020 kl. 11:30
4, not 400 ;p It's an amount of 400 in the editor, but that's not one for one iron plates to steel bars, it's a proportion :) As in 400% input (4 iron plates) to 100% output (one steel bar), or whatever the precise amounts are (I've not played around with creating new functionality/crafting in a while, but that's how I remember it).

So if it's set to 200, it takes 2 iron plates to make... yes? I'm okay with 10 electrical and steel bars since those mean you can't just spam a dozen easily, but just wanted to clarify on the iron plates.
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 15. dec. 2020 kl. 11:25
whoops
Radiosity 15. dec. 2020 kl. 11:21
200 iron plates? Sure you didn't hit one too many zeroes? ;p
Cattrina  [ophavsmand] 15. dec. 2020 kl. 10:49
moderate 500
Nova Dawn 15. dec. 2020 kl. 10:31
So what's the output
