Thanks. I probably should update the thing to use the AI blocks, but other distractions leave it at a lower priority.

This little dude has been the backbone of my mining operations for years

2+ years late, but the script can already ignore reactors. You just have to go into behavior settings and tell it to ignore uranium requirements. (or change them to something else)

Sorry you're having troubles. I never considered the PAM limitations. Maybe you could alter the script to ignore reactors, or just remove them completely if the thrusters loads aren't too high.
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 27. jan. 2022 kl. 17:37
Really!?! There must be something in the PAM script that looks at the power supplies for the ship, and if a power supply is low or producing no power, it defaults the ship to return to its point of origin to get recharged/refueled. I didn't know that before.

I used the reactors because of their power density. Carrying a full load of ore on high-gravity planets drives the thrusters hard, and a lot of juice is needed to keep them going. I just finished a piloted version of this thing (planetary and space version); it's a struggle with the planetary version because of the space taken by the cockpit and O2/H2 generator that could be used for batteries. It uses a lot of small reactors (I'm changing it to use one large reactor) plus its 7 batteries to carry a full load on Pertam. Performance is important for my ships, so I test them pretty hard.

Figured out why it keeps going back. It wants Uranium, a minimum of 5 KG per reactor even if they are off. I do not see where to fix it in the script but if you can get 5 kg in them it will work fine.

You can temporarily disable the ejectors (turn them off) which will load up the drills or, alternatively, you can change the ore sorters to accept stone and disable the stone sorters so they don't dump it. Somebody could probably write a script to do it with the click of a button, but I'm not that talented.

One other question, is there a way to toggle off the stone dropping? Reactors need a lot of gravel.
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 31. juli 2021 kl. 20:32
Oh, oops. Yeah...sorry about that.
Andromalius 31. juli 2021 kl. 19:27
Nope it was indeed my bad. PAM was recognizing that my reactors had no uranium, even though the miner works just fine on batteries alone.
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 31. juli 2021 kl. 19:14
It should be, although I haven't tried it since the Heavy Industry update. If anything's wrong, it's the Path Auto Miner script. Go to the script comments and you'll see that others are having problems.

Is this up to date? I believe I followed all of the steps but the miner just kept returning to base after I hit 5. Fully charged....
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 28. juni 2021 kl. 13:38
You bet. I hope it all works well for you.
josemaripl 28. juni 2021 kl. 13:12
Thanks for the fast reply!! ;-)
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 28. juni 2021 kl. 13:06
That information comes with the PAM script. Go here to get instructions for controlling the mining area and depth:

Nice mod!! But i need to know how to adjust deep and width. Tahnks for your work!! ;)

I'm perplexed that you have a problem, and I can't imagine what would cause the script to think you're cargo containers are at their threshold fill limit (which is why the auto-miner would head back). Curious.
handofthereaper 25. mar. 2021 kl. 17:30
I built it from a projector with something else. Will try it with your build bay
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 25. mar. 2021 kl. 10:08
OK, so I set up a base (I used my Rattlesnake Flats Outpost; it only has a beacon, so I had to add an antenna for PAM to work), added a programmable block and control seat so I could use PAM, and set it off to mine some iron. I worked perfectly, so I'm not sure why you're having a problem.
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 24. mar. 2021 kl. 19:15
Well, dang, it shouldn't do that. Are the cargo containers full? Maybe the latest updates have glitched-out the PAM script. OK, I'll check it out.
handofthereaper 24. mar. 2021 kl. 18:29
I did. It moves forward and to the left for a sec turns on the drills then turns them off and goes to dock
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 24. mar. 2021 kl. 5:57
Make sure you hit {4} again once you've positioned the ship above the ore deposit to lock in its position, then hit {5} to start mining. It should move forward and to the left, then start mining.
handofthereaper 23. mar. 2021 kl. 21:18
Mine is just flying back to the connector. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks for the moon miner version

You bet!

Nice miner for auto and manual mining, thanks for share!!

I've got an AutoMole Moon Miner partially complete. Should I push forward with it for you, or do you want to do something else?
Spaceman Spiff  [ophavsmand] 25. jan. 2021 kl. 16:26
Oops! Incorrect wording. My dumb.
Equitime77 25. jan. 2021 kl. 12:57
I thought that when your controls said ion thrusters on/off that it had ion thrusters. But no, its just atmo thrusters. I hope it still works after I change it over to ion. Mining on the moon...
