if it's that easy, go ahead and do it yourself
but what i had in plan for fixes include brand new sprites, brand new animations, a whole lot of new features, better resurrection mechanics, disease that can be gained if attacked by 049-2, ect.
i have lost a lot of progress on this after having to factory reset my computer, and have generally lost motivation to work on barotrauma mods for the time being

without that affliction 049 won't work properly and won't resurrect the dead, if you're controlling it yourself just use the item "Mysterious Doctor's Bag" on a corpse
