@DaBiggman go to steamapps\workshop\content\281990\2271209736\common\species_classes

then edit 69_species_classes.txt and replace everything below line 14 (the stuff at the top is just comments, the section should start with UNDEAD = { etc) with:

NECROID = {
archetype = BIOLOGICAL

playable = { has_necroids = yes }
possible = { authority = { NOT = { value = auth_machine_intelligence text = SPECIES_CLASS_MUST_NOT_USE_MACHINE_INTELLIGENCE } } }

randomized = { has_necroids = yes }

gender = yes

custom_portraits = {
randomized = { has_necroids = yes }
playable = { has_necroids = yes }
portraits = {
"nec1"
"nec2"
"nec3"
"nec4"
"nec5"
"nec6"
"nec7"
"nec8"
"nec9"
"nec10"
"nec11"
"nec12"
"nec13"
"nec14"
"nec15"
"vampire"
}
}
# These should not be used for randomly generated species
non_randomized_portraits = {
"vampire"
}

graphical_culture = necroid_01
move_pop_sound_effect = "molluscoid_pops_move"

resources = {}
}

@Stekkjastaur - how did you do it? My group would also like to do this.
im not in japan 28 sep, 2022 @ 16:13
Would it be possible to move this portrait from "undead" to the default "necroids" category? Rn you can't pick necroid exlusive traits from mods like Species Diversity or origins like Necrophage as vampires. I've already modded my local version to fix this

Also, thanks for the update! Playing as vampires with a subrace of Humans Necrophaged is so much fun.
barricadedpurifier 27 sep, 2022 @ 10:16
I see. Ty.
Illusioneer  [skapare] 27 sep, 2022 @ 10:09
@barricadedpurifier

No, I intentionally set it up that the portraits are not used by any procedural factions, including primitives. This is to avoid duplicate portraits being used.

You can still start the game with an AI faction using the portraits. You just need to make a faction using the portraits and then force spawn the faction.
Dinvan 27 sep, 2022 @ 8:24
Ah thank you :) Right now I just use debugtooltip/play X then change the name of the empire manually lol.
Love this mod btw.
barricadedpurifier 27 sep, 2022 @ 0:05
I forgot to ask but the game can make primitives from them right?
Illusioneer  [skapare] 26 sep, 2022 @ 22:24
It's a bug, I'll take a look at it at some later point.
Dinvan 25 sep, 2022 @ 13:44
Hi, I am finding that the ai is unable to generate names from the custom list when I use the mod. It simply has blank names for the empire and leaders.
Also, same with species creation using the name list.
Have I got the load order wrong or is this a bug?
barricadedpurifier 23 sep, 2022 @ 17:22
Thanks!
Illusioneer  [skapare] 23 sep, 2022 @ 17:16
I've uploaded the fix and it should be working again.

Restart steam if it hasn't auto downloaded, otherwise resubscribe.

Let me know if it's still not working or if it break again.
Ultramarine 23 sep, 2022 @ 8:45
Illusioneer thanks
barricadedpurifier 22 sep, 2022 @ 23:06
many thanks
Illusioneer  [skapare] 22 sep, 2022 @ 22:47
Right, I'll get to work on it later today. I'll have it fixed by tomorrow morning.
barricadedpurifier 22 sep, 2022 @ 18:58
The hair selection has been replaced by the new mask selection from the new toxoid portraits. That's the theory I come up with. In other words, conflicting with the mod.
barricadedpurifier 22 sep, 2022 @ 18:55
Yeah, it no longer works. The Toxoids update 3.5 makes it to where the option to change their hair is greyed out because I think they changed the way in which species customization work. I can change the faces just fine though.
Illusioneer  [skapare] 22 sep, 2022 @ 15:24
@Keetongu does the mod no longer work for you?

I don't have time to add anything new to this, but if it stopped working I will update, just need someone to confirm it no longer works.
Ultramarine 22 sep, 2022 @ 9:44
plz update.
Freya Sessrúmnir 26 maj, 2022 @ 11:59
This is just odd. Reselecting the portraits and species traits completely fixes it even though I changed nothing about the selections.
Freya Sessrúmnir 26 maj, 2022 @ 11:47
It doesn't work with Overlord due to how all portraits now has some sort of tags assigned, which this mod doesn't have.
Frost Reave 22 maj, 2022 @ 5:33
Scratch that it does work with overlords. If you find that all of your mods arent there when opening the game restart and see if that fixes it.
Baka Racker 5 feb, 2022 @ 15:28
@qinlongfei If you really REALLY want this, you could try copying the female files into the male directory and renaming them to match the male files they are replacing. No idea if it would actually work, but short of coding your own mod, this is probably your only option.
qinlongfei 4 jan, 2022 @ 17:07
This mod have the same problem as most vanilla races where the portrait gender setting doesn't apply right. Can you update it to use only the selected gender portray like Ayomi's 'Gender Fix' mod?
Illusioneer  [skapare] 14 dec, 2021 @ 14:04
@Violen

This mod uses it's own folder structure that is near completely independent of the game files and is read very simply using Stellaris' native code. This mod should be completely compatible with any mod that doesn't alter how Stellaris reads portraits. Therefore it should already be compatible.

However, I can think of one possibility that may result in incompatibility. I don't have time to test today. But if you or someone else could confirm the incompatibility here, I'll get to work to see if I can get it to work.
Violen 14 dec, 2021 @ 6:52
Any plans to make this compatible with SE: Restyled?
Illusioneer  [skapare] 4 dec, 2021 @ 3:10
You can play ironman, but you won't get achievements. All mods that alter the checksum disables the achievements.
MrJoeOrange™ 3 dec, 2021 @ 7:24
Ironman compatible?
smokepasto 9 nov, 2021 @ 18:36
This would be amazing as extra necroid portraits to go with the new Dark Arts of Necromancy mod..
Jalib AlMarah 7 maj, 2021 @ 0:36
Subbing to this because they restricted Primary and Secondary Species from using the same portrait. Necrophage Vampires is fun.
Panteradactyl 8 feb, 2021 @ 13:07
What are you talking about? Man buns are the epitome of style and class!
TurtleShroom 24 jan, 2021 @ 13:41
According to tradition, vampires are the "gentleman's monster" and snazzy dressers.

They would NEVER be caught dead (or undead) in a MAN BUN.
azure_wolf_22 28 dec, 2020 @ 14:18
Now I wish there were traits or civics that actually MADE at least SOMETHING close to vampires (No I dont count devouring swarm)
Illusioneer  [skapare] 25 dec, 2020 @ 20:40
Nope, Necroids is NOT REQUIRED.
Khenti-kheti 25 dec, 2020 @ 20:06
is necroids required to use this? i wouldn't think so from reading the description but i just wanna make sure
kaneeden 3 nov, 2020 @ 18:49
great work, it´s perfectly suited for the necroids content
Dirheim 3 nov, 2020 @ 9:12
I love them, thanks a lot, this does perfectly fit my Blood Empire
Orgasmatron 31 okt, 2020 @ 3:34
Cool and very timely! Thanks!
The God Ghetto Holy 30 okt, 2020 @ 19:08
Woo! Vampires!++
Solairus 30 okt, 2020 @ 13:52
Thanks for sharing.
Sel Und Irae 29 okt, 2020 @ 12:48
Yeah, I'd like to report an issue

You didn't add a button to call a global crusade against these abominations :crusader_helmet:
:brothersword:
Illusioneer  [skapare] 29 okt, 2020 @ 11:22
There shouldn't be any issues, but if there are, leave a comment. I'll get to fixing it within 8 hours.
