this is one of my favorite maps but ever since the gmod update this map has become very laggy and unplayable.

Thank you! Since others have had issues with FPS because of the fish I will probably have to update the map at some point. I can also look at what the new limits might allow. I did have some interesting ideas.

One of my favorite maps, love how since the update it gives the same feel as Naboo from the original Lego games. I’ve heard hammer limits may be changing, will this map be receiving any updates if so? Thanks!

To be fair, I've walked as far as I could go, but the FPS issues were everywhere form My POV.

Seems like I probably should consider a lite version. What might help to know, are the FPS problems all over the map? Or is it mostly just outside? There are "fish" in the sewers too, but there aren't nearly as many and it's a very enclosed space. So I'm wondering if those are also problem areas. For the outside I can definitely understand it causing problems since there's a lot of fish there.

Is there no way to remove the FPS eating fish in the map? Consider something like that a lite version.

I can confirm it's the fish. I found a way to remove them on my end, and it improved performance significantly. They appear to be causing a memory leak somehow.

it could be, since some others have also reported lag on this map. But if it's not the fish, then I don't know what it could be.

it MIGHT be this map, but ever since i started playing on it i've had a memory leak in gmod that causes the lag

im hoping its on my ends but im also getting huge amounts of frame drops and freezing on this map

If that's the case then it can't be the fish. And I haven't noticed any notable frame drops in single player myself.
But it's a big open map. So it's always gonna have worse FPS outside compared to interiors.

The only way I can trigger this bug is when I swap maps. The very low FPS appears after a map swap when in the exteriors. Restarting game fixes it. Affects both SP and MP

I'm unsure the issue right now but when you leave an interior of a building, FPS of my friends and I drop significantly, it's something in the map as when I clean up the map it doesn't improve at all. Could be the fish?

The map is basically at the engine limits. New areas cannot be added without another overhaul. Adding the ISD interior and under water area was stretching it as it is.

Hello I was wondering if there's any future plans to expand the total number of housing areas? Unless I'm miscounting incorrectly there's around 10-15 areas for player housing apart from the dedicated buildings excluding the hotel

The jail is in the bottom floor of the police station.
I've added a big under water area this last update. There's no plans for a gungan city or anything.

I'm not sure if works still may be done on the map but it would be a bit interesting to have a medium size Gungans style area. Also is there any jail cells in the police station? I havent been able to find any

Yeah the fish are definitely the bigger issue
Frames get especially low in the underwater cave since it's an open space and there's gotta be well over 50 of them down there

This version should have a lot better fps than the old version of the map. I don't plan on removing them. Unless there's like a big problem with them. The bugs in the sewers shouldn't be a problem at all since they are indoors. The fish in the ponds and river I could understand if those have an impact since they are outdoors, and there's a lot of them. I'll look into it.

Weird. I still have to finish the update I was working on. But maybe I should just try and reupload the same version of the map as a new gma and see if that fixes anything.

So a small update. When I was booting my server today I found out the actual error that rejects the naboo map file:
Not loading addon 'Rp_Naboo_City' - Malformed .gma file
I'm not sure what would cause it but I hope this may help you out

"Failed to parse addon file" is the error I'm getting, and it looks like recent gmod patches are trying to fix this

Not sure what I can do. There's no reason why the map wouldn't appear if it's a map problem. It still sound like a Gmod or Steam problem. Unsub, and resub. If it just doesn't download, then that's a Steam problem.
