Haha, came here to get this because of @ANB_Seth and there he his below me lauding this mod. I second the request of Seth. The hand position of the use of pistols is a major problem in games for me. Thumbs forward grip conquer the most real estate on a firearm, so, it is not a preference thing. Most Shooters know to have more real estate. T cupping is a Sin, and should be avoided, and thumb over thumb, is for revolvers. Therefore thumb forward with the offhand has replaced most of those grips, so as to manage recoil best, and have greater manipulation of the sidearm. To those who would wonder...Why Care...the answer would be...well...it is VR. Reality is a part of the VR element, so, lets get it Real. I use VR for "Real world" practice. So thank you mod designer for this option.

This is probably my most go-to-gun mod out there :-D And oddly not because of the pistol (ppk) itself, which I kinda hate to be honest XD, but because of the way the hands are holding it! Very very well done! If feels soooooo much better than the way the Alyx base-gun is held, or pretty much every other gun in the workshop for that matter. Amazing what this little difference does to the game. Do you plan on doing other guns like this? I'd so love to check out other guns with this hand feature :-)

Most of features are awesome but foresight is blocked by ammo extension add-on.

This has to be one of my favourite guns. Love the gun shot sound, and the design of the gun with and without mods. Just wish the reload sounds were more juicy. For some reason all pistol replacements have only one sound for charging the gun, instead of two sounds. One sound for pulling back the chamber, and one sound for releasing the chamber. Wish you could fix this.

@Tiaagra Not currently no - if I could make it part of the upgrade system I would, but unfortunately I can't swap out firing sounds based on what attachments are installed. A suppressed version would need to be a separate addon - I'd like to fix some thing with this gun at some point before I go making alternate versions.

Is there a version of this that has a suppressor on it?

@fastfood9000 Here's a discord link to the modding hub for Half-Life Alyx: https://discord.gg/7M6DWuX - I believe it's the largest one centered around modding for the game. There's some template files for the pistol in the prefabs channel to get you started. Tip: make sure to reference the default files often so you can figure out how stuff works.

@CollinsPlays It's totally possible to do one for the HL2 pistol, but I know of someone who was already working on one, though I'm not sure when it will be finished. I have plans to try and do the other weapons next when I can and not just focus too much on pistols, but if I see and overwhelming interest and there isn't already one after a few months, I might consider making one.

Why couldn't Valve make the player hold the gun like someone who has more than one brain cell. Yet a modder can lmao.

@IgorMgePro To my knowledge, the only way of doing that would be to recompile the original model with new animations. If I could figure out a way to fix the flashlight problem when 2-handing with those hand poses, then I would consider making a default replacement for the pistol with these hand poses, which unfortunately I still haven't found a method of doing yet. Valve made that part way more complicated than I initially anticipated.

I never comment on things but this is by FAR the best weapon addon for HL:A. Excellent design sir.

I actually aim a lot better with this pistol because of the way the sight is. I do hope that you keep a similar style reflex sight if you plan on updating that but otherwise, an amazing pistol replacement.

Absolutely my favorite pistol mod by a LONGSHOT. Finally Alyx holds a pistol properly. Only problem i had is that when bullet reservoir is attached, i noticed the band that is used to attach itself to the gun got in the way of the ironsights a little. Other than that, and the flashlight problem mentioned, this mod is fucking GOLDEN. Can’t wait to see more from you.

Amazing pistol, had no issues with it. Looked like Bond 2.0 with the ammo extender on the side. Felt even more like Bond when playing those 007 levels going around. Great job!

you could try to add something similar to the shotguns counter, a simple display with a nuber on it, also any plans to add a indication of weather or not the ppk is in single or burst fire?

@Shaunshilu Currently no - I've tried to get take the original ammo counter and apply it before, but the indicator lights don't line up correctly. From what I've experimented with, the material that represents those lights has attributes that define how the lights should function that could be tied to animations somehow, but I haven't gotten anything so far to work. I included a sort-of ammo counter built into the bottom part of the magazine, but that's the best I can do currently - without a way to access how they setup their own materials using their own tools (which we still do have all of), I can't recreate the effect myself.
