its almost worked.
there is another line with same problem:
console is ok during "initialization" message
there is spam while pirate raiding: check line 211
I'll see about replacing them, just to be safe.
win 10
i guess it about lua, not OS. F and T is not in acceptable list: https://www.lua.org/pil/22.1.html
but i never used lua before, so not sure about its underhoods
Thank you for reporting, but I can't reproduce on my end, it works as intended here.
What OS are you using?
line 206 bad argument #1 os.date("!%F %T %Z")
So I can force enable on my end, though haven't tried SP server. The server won't allow it by default because of a version difference, however, it allows it if its forced and seems to start up fine, but no one can connect to said server. We end up getting an error saying could not load a mod. It doesn't say this mod specifically, but disabling it allows people to join once again.
The error given on initial startup whether forced or not:
`2160430864 is problematic: Mod 'VK Less Frequent Pirate Attacks' [2160430864]'s base game requirement (0.0 to 1.3.*) doesn't match version 2.2.2 of the game.`
What do you mean "won't run on servers"? Because of the version mismatch, or does it throw actual errors?
I have never tested it on a standalone server, so I have no idea if it ever worked there, but also no reports by other users that it wouldn't.
I'm currently not playing with mods myself, so actual testing is very limited (read: non-existant).
I have looked over the code and as far as I can tell, it should still work OK.
Considering there haven't been any calls for tar and pitchforks yet, it's probably safe to force-enable it, but if you're concerned about stability or save file corruption, it certainly wouldn't hurt to give it a try in a parallel universe first.
@Avarant, I don't think that's something I want to tackle.
From as technical perspective, the event gets triggered every X minutes; I then simply filter out X out of Y attempts, so it still "happens" at the default intervals, but most of the time, the pirates just won't show up.
I'd need to look into increasing the frequency of the event itself -- if that is even possible -- which is something I currently have no intention of doing.
this mod has been quite usefull
