What I know so far: first Right click Automation Empire and select properties > Betas > Check Code this, despite the error, will download the modding beta. Next I opened the game and made a new one. Then hit "TAB" key to bring up a console. That's it, that's as far as I can get with this. Can't type anything into the console, can't click on anything, nothing. I can't find any modding info other than that, so there is no current way to figure out how/what to get started.

@Sinstrite Workshop content seems to be the standard Steam location, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\ (plus game ID, i.e. \1112790).

You need to activate the beta in Steam by going to your library, right-clicking A.E. and choosing Properties, then go to the Betas tab and select moddingbeta from the drop-down menu.
