great mod
RedBeard 26. mar. kl. 1:32
Hey man, amazing mod!

But I wanted to ask if you would be willing to share how you created the mod if you're not going to update it anymore. I'd like to add some fixes, such as every Slavic culture speaking Common Slavic and perhaps rename "Old Norse" to just "Norse" (since it ruins the immersion a bit) etc.
kumtlazizhu 15. juni 2024 kl. 0:37
turkish characters speak early new persian wha
Plutocene 22. apr. 2024 kl. 15:23
Added this mod and suddenly realized you can no longer hire a foreigner with 20 stewardship and send him tax collecting, because he cannot speak the local language. Ingenius
Sevarics 23. nov. 2023 kl. 16:53
I don't know if it's just mean but all the Armenians and Georgians just speak Greek instead of Armenian or Georgian ?

the renegade you have to click "subscribe" with open launcher. if you do not, unsubscribe and repeat
The Renegade 7. okt. 2023 kl. 19:29
Any chance of a manual download option? Steam ck2 workshop (as it all-too-often-does) is not providing the mod files despite being subscribed for multiple days.
Dan van Dante 24. mar. 2023 kl. 21:22
Thanks.

Well to answer my own question yes Ai can learn multiple languages over time...Specifically parents can pass on their languages as well as guardians, and tutors for rulers...This seems more beneficial to children and as time goes on...Adults have more limited options and I've yet to find a way to teach a language purposefully to an older courtier. Perhaps my courtiers/ai will seek assistance from the language tutors? Either way this is my new favorite mod so good work!
Balista 19. dec. 2022 kl. 22:30
Fantastic mod...adds surprising depth and realism to many aspects of the game directly and indirectly. I was wondering if Ai ever learn multiple languages over time ((just started new game, and haven't noticed, maybe its just rulers?) Besides using console command to add language trait is it possible to teach language to courtier?
OSST 12. sep. 2022 kl. 17:40
Have the same question as nilserich
Nilserrich 20. nov. 2021 kl. 14:13
There should definitely be a way to have council members learn a language. (Maybe through the language tutor). Otherwise, it becomes almost impossible to move forward in certain regions, I would say. Or am I missing something?

No problem Teoctlamazqui
Teoctlamazqui 4. okt. 2021 kl. 14:40
So you mind if I borrow your code for a mod I’m working on for agot ck2?kudos and links to your mod would be provided in my mod post
Kaput 25. aug. 2021 kl. 6:52
why it's wrote "FRENCH" everywhere
Alien Beast 28. apr. 2021 kl. 10:48
Great mod, except for the counselor restrictions. They would just use translators. They should instead have a boost to their abilities for speaking the local language.
saspekt 2. dec. 2020 kl. 13:16
would be great to have alternative download for that mod
StrayDogFreedom 18. nov. 2020 kl. 13:57
Would it be possible to add a direct download? the steam workshop isn't working very well for me
StrayDogFreedom 18. nov. 2020 kl. 12:54
neat idea!
t.kastelijn 16. nov. 2020 kl. 13:56
is there any way we can bribe you to do an AGOT version? ;_;
Angel 27. sep. 2020 kl. 17:40
is there a way for courtiers to learn new languages as well or is it restricted to the ruler?
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 7. sep. 2020 kl. 14:39
Thanks! I will look into it
Jay Biondo 7. sep. 2020 kl. 13:54
I think for Franco-Provençal, the last letter a is capitalized, and it looks like this, the last time I have checked: Franco-ProvençAl. It seems to be a simple mistake, and it should be lowercase.
Holz 7. sep. 2020 kl. 4:02
I'm loving this mod, its simple but adds a lot to immersion. One small change I would make is that arpitan (franco-provençal) seem to be broken in some of the files because of the use of the letter "ç".
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 22. aug. 2020 kl. 6:33
@gr8_hate I can make it a game rule in the next update. I plan to put this in maintenance mode only when CK3 comes out and turn my attention to modding there so I will try to do it before then
gr8_hate 21. aug. 2020 kl. 11:19
is there a way to not limit the councillors by language when it comes to interacting with different cultured countries? Especially the chancellor, I just dont see how the kingdom's main diplomat would be unable to interact with different cultured countries. Is it even historically acurate and realistic in the mideval era? The other councilors being limited by language i do understand especially the spymaster. Afterall, a scotsman spying on the byzantine empire would get caught for his obvious accent
Nilserrich 21. juli 2020 kl. 8:59
The only thing I really miss to have fun with the mod is to give the council members the possibility to work in different language areas. There should be interpreter or something like that. Or languages teacher can be assigned to people at court or in the council. Otherwise I find the mod very immersive and atmospheric.
yapoyavilsyaiztemnoti 4. juli 2020 kl. 10:56
Dude i've been trying to create a mod like this AGES ago and thought it's impossible. Thank you!
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 28. juni 2020 kl. 14:31
As of yesterday, yes. Sorry. I put it in change log but forgot to put in description. Will change
Cabrão Bacalhau 28. juni 2020 kl. 10:33
is the marshall also limited by the language
Cabrão Bacalhau 28. juni 2020 kl. 10:33
How do i teach my councilors new languages?
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 27. juni 2020 kl. 17:28
@CodaMission - I could not reproduce your problem. Language spreads through marriage (children inheriting), language tutors, guardians, or the child's location at key times of life. I would say if Dutch vassals are speaking Mande, there is some intercultural mixing going on which is allowing it.
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 20. juni 2020 kl. 17:51
@codamission haven’t had this problem. I’m running an observer game at moment to see where it might be coming from and will look back at code later
CodaMission 19. juni 2020 kl. 18:39
very buggy. Lots of languages that have no business in specific regions. Like my dutch vassals speaking the Mande language of west africa. And all my nahuatl vassals speak Indo-Aryan
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 10. juni 2020 kl. 14:46
@Batholome Mitre thanks! glad you like it! Particularly interested in your suggestions to make it better from a linguistics standpoint.
Bartholome Mitre 10. juni 2020 kl. 13:25
As a linguist I have been dreaming about a mod like this myself! Thank you!
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 9. juni 2020 kl. 21:34
@jiggle billy Best to start a new game
̝̬̩͓̯̠̪ͦ͒ͦ͒̀ͫ̚̚ 9. juni 2020 kl. 16:07
Is this save game compatible?
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 6. juni 2020 kl. 9:07
Councilor action restrictions are now compatible with HIP.
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 6. juni 2020 kl. 5:11
Thanks Dimaz. I realized as I was headed to sleep that I neglected to carry over the councilor action changes (which were already in the works) to the HIP changes so it will bug up if you play a non-vanilla culture in HIP and try a councilor action. I’ll fix it later todaY when I have time
Dimquinox 6. juni 2020 kl. 4:38
dear dev,

many thanks!
i haven't try it yet, but still, thanks!

sincerely
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 5. juni 2020 kl. 23:17
Hi folks - I just added limitations to the court chancellor and spymaster. Their actions are now limited by the languages they know. Enjoy.
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 5. juni 2020 kl. 20:22
Hi folks - I just finished HIP compatibility and updated. I do not play HIP much and have not playtested the update extensively. Please let me know if you run into any bugs.
Teoctlamazqui 5. juni 2020 kl. 6:11
if you ever decide to get into making this compatible with full conversion mods like AGOT,that would be sweet.
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 4. juni 2020 kl. 8:28
@Dimaz it is in the works. I intended to work on it last weekend but ended up sick. Hoping to turn to it this weekend.
Dimquinox 4. juni 2020 kl. 6:44
dear developer, we badly need a HIP version for this great mod,
sincerely.
Dani 4. juni 2020 kl. 6:26
Absolutely my bad. After your comment I checked everything. My fault
CK2RPG  [ophavsmand] 3. juni 2020 kl. 17:02
@Dani - finnic and hungarian are implemented. Estonian is not attested until the 13th century but I could implement for later. What would you like to see? Still fleshing out some of the languages.
Dani 3. juni 2020 kl. 13:12
A pity that uralic is not implemented yet :(
Fluff Bunny 3. juni 2020 kl. 7:20
I've not tried modding CK2 so not sure how streamlined it is.

Are there "If/else" blocks or do you have to check each language against each language separately?

Is there a way to do a

If share language then +5;
Else if share language family then +3;

Obviously a nice to have not a necessity. Great mod even without that and definitely best to get the basics working before adding the nice-to-haves... Good job and great ideas you've had.
