If you're talking to me, my problem is not that it's a 'cheat'. It's that all that loose gold slowly accumulating in the world causes lag.

Doesn't matter much anymore, I switched to a mod that turns gold nuggets into gold dust after a while.

Consider making the despawn window longer instead of outright disabling it

@woot it's already a hard game, some people like playing casual, some people find that's not fair because killing happened off-screen and they're not responsible for that kill. some people stress themselves to get the gold and they rush and die. so, this mod wasn't made specifically for you, furthermore if you don't like it simply don't install the mod. but i can see why you feel the need to complain, you want some validation that you're good at this game and don't need to pursuit the gold because you simply can get the gold without an effort. good for you buddy! you're the best!

Why would someone get this. There is a perk in game that disables gold despawns. This is just a cheat.

would be better if gold despawns just turn into the gold terrain which you can collect as well.

Does it remove that perk too?

Nothing just despawns in this game, not water, steam, not enemies, why the hell does one of the main resources last for about 10 seconds.

Man I would have to say probably EVERY SINGLE DEATH I've had is because of the damage building up from me rushing as fast as I can to grab the gold nuggets that disappear in like THIRTY SECONDS. HOLY COW what a trash game mechanic! I get the idea of having gold despawn to preserve you from frame drops over time, but come on it should give you at LEAST 2-5 minutes to work your way over to the gold of an enemy you just killed! So yeah this mod is a life saver and now I can actually enjoy the game instead of constantly getting super frustrated every time I play.

this mod has killed me more than any other from jumping into a puddle of gold only to get devoured by lava, acid or something else.

even mods are balanced bc of players lol

honestly i think its pure bullshit that they gold despawns by default. it kinda is just breaking your fucking arms, when the game has already crippled your legs.

If i may ask, would it be better to just give the player the perk "Gold Is Forever" at the start of the game?
That way it would not result in overall more gold pickups that players stumble upon.

Ontop of actually changing the lifespan of gold to infinite, this should remove the Gold is Forever perk from the pool or give it by default.

Thank christ for this, I just burned my way into a chest room but a bit of fire hit the chest. It exploded into an entire room full of gold while I was still boring through the wall, and all of it despawned...

I just booted up the game with only this mod enabled, and it worked just fine. Is it possible that you're using another mod may be overwriting any changes this one makes to the goldnugget.xml files?

Unsubscribing to this and using the new Gold is forever mod as it removes the perk from the rotation.

Would be great if this also removed the Gold Forever perk from the pool.

i see, i'm also not really a fan of heavily modding the game, i basically only use 4 mods.
alchemy recipe (because i'm lazy),
health container (because extra health is nice),
spell boundle (because yes),
and goki's things (becuase QoL mods are great).
and none of which even show up in the mods folder and work perfectly fine together.
i haven't looked into the structure of the game so not sure what exactly you mean with modifying XML Files.

I had a few PMs on modworkshop.net asking if I'd fix it after it stopped working. I also don't have experience uploading Noita mods to Steam so this was half because of the requests, half because I could use the practice with Noita's workshop before I update/improve a simple material spray mod I whipped up as well.

There is no big, "I can't use it because this," reason and Goki's is clearly a good mod. I just limit the amount of mods I use because anything that replaces an existing xml makes it incompatible with other mods that modify the same xml, and I don't want to keep track of what gets tweaked and what doesn't :P I'm lazy like that. Goki's might not replace a single xml and it may only add things, I just haven't checked so I have no idea.

it basically is like Optifine for Minecraft, there are no downsides to having it as basically everything is optional.

I released this mod about a day after the modding tools came out. This is just an update to make it compatible with Update 7's changes to gold nuggets, as well as to get it onto the steam workshop. Goki's things came out not long after mine did (about a month, if I recall), but at the time I whipped the mod up because there wasn't anything like it and I wasn't thrilled about gold lifespans.
I personally don't use Goki's, even though goki_dev is excellent.

but... goki's things already does this... plus a lot of other optional features and improvements... so why would you want this as a seperate mod for no reason?

There were a few instances floating around of people experiencing FPS drops when big mobs dropped a lot of nuggets, so I can understand giving them a lifespan as a development choice. I've never personally had that issue and I much prefer playing this way.
