Hey mate good mod!

I'm playing with invictus, it would be great to add new units like your mod.

Spearmen is an indispensable addition, like the slingers in my point of view

Regards.

I would Also play the shit out of that
J.DOG 7. maj 2022 kl. 9:36
Thats sound great! Thank you
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 5. maj 2022 kl. 6:06
Since I'm an active developer of Invictus, work on this stalled a bit!
The Spearmen in invictus is mostly my doing. If I have the time, I'll turn this into a compatible submod for Invictus.
But yeah, Invictus doesn't include many of the more radical changes, like the Marines, however the Naming convention has been added, alongside a new unit. Furthermore Unit balance in Invictus has been based of my Numbers from this mod.

In conclusion, if people really want to work with Marines, I'll quickly throw together a submod.

Thanks for dropping a comment, however! :>

hey did this ever get discussed for being added to invictus?
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 7. juni 2021 kl. 0:52
yes :)
msslupu 6. juni 2021 kl. 22:15
Any chance this update comes out separately?
Blue cobra 11. maj 2021 kl. 10:33

John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 11. maj 2021 kl. 9:52
I am already part of the team and in the process of incorporating it ;)
Blue cobra 11. maj 2021 kl. 8:20

just making sure you didnt die on us or something. :)
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 24. apr. 2021 kl. 15:14
Yeah I'm terribly sorry about the delay, however I had a super busy week (alongside some setbacks with the events I was using, which are fixed as of today :D)
So bear with me please :>
_Augustus_Caesar 24. apr. 2021 kl. 12:16
is the update coming this weekend?
Solemnity 17. apr. 2021 kl. 3:49
Can't wait in that case, this is one of my favourite mods. But other than elite infantry, can there also be a form of heavy infantry, as the two historically were different types of units (in another update obviously)
_Augustus_Caesar 16. apr. 2021 kl. 12:36
Sweetness
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 15. apr. 2021 kl. 6:23
Greetings people, expect an update on either Sunday, or Monday.
Preliminary patchnotes would entail the following:

-2.0 Version of most things
-Reforms for Rome
-a Lot of Events for said Reforms

(-No custom Traditions, those will be included in a seperate update, shortly after this update)
Diego I de Persia 6. apr. 2021 kl. 18:43
please update this mate, it was one of the best mods for 1.5
J.DOG 2. apr. 2021 kl. 6:33
This mod looks great, waiting for an update
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 30. mar. 2021 kl. 5:59
Uhh not as of now, sadly, but I'm working on a 2.0.x update :>
Ay Tone 30. mar. 2021 kl. 5:40
Is this working with 2.0?
Macus B 22. mar. 2021 kl. 18:38
Thanks so much for the dedication Vex! Mods really add so much to then game and make it great.
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 13. mar. 2021 kl. 0:24
Going rather well, I do admit that I've been partially sucked into Valheim, but I am finishing up work on the actual Marian-Reform branch, so you can get to enjoy the historical "accurate" version. Alt-History will need some time :D
_Augustus_Caesar 12. mar. 2021 kl. 14:17
How are things coming Vex? if you need a brain to pick for any ideas im more then willing to help.
Xanadu-King 6. mar. 2021 kl. 6:07
Ah, so this mod isn't dead, it is just changing around. I am very excited to see this, and I look forward to being able to fully customize legions and levies in the future. :D
_Augustus_Caesar 2. mar. 2021 kl. 6:18
nice

Hey there people!
Here's a quick teaser of one of the upcoming features (flavour text/localization are, yet again, lacking)

_Augustus_Caesar 22. feb. 2021 kl. 6:08
Maybe since they already have the Engineers you could do like you said witht he Tech tree. and one of the Buffs could be called Scorpion or Scorpio. And it would add that battlefield buff, vs Heavy infantry and Elephants.
_Augustus_Caesar 21. feb. 2021 kl. 20:26
Sweetness now we just have to get Paradox to fix their extreme historical error. That of having Armys within Legions instead of Legions within Armys.
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 21. feb. 2021 kl. 14:34
Funnily enough, with the introduction of Support "Cohorts" I've been toying with this exact same idea.

It wouldn't really be that much effort to create these, however, given the fact that we already have engineers as a sort of "unified" siege-equipment (as in they build the stuff you want to use on the battlefield/siege), I may plan to create a few technologies allowing the use of specialized equipment.
Might be included in the first 2.0 release o/
_Augustus_Caesar 21. feb. 2021 kl. 14:01
Love your Mod. you do Great work and keep it as close to historical as I think you possibly can. you are closer then the Game Devs are anyway. Would there be any way to add siege Weapons/field Artillery to the Romans. Greeks and Carthage. something like Scorpions and or Catapults. Catapult adding a siege buff and Scorpions having a bonus Vs. heavy Infantry and Elephants, possibly a a negative moral effect for the enemy or a positive one for your army. I understand if you dont want to do all this its probably a lot of work, i'm just a history buff and love getting games closer and closer to reality.

To-Do List:
-Add Units to the levy templates
-Add specialized Traits and a way to obtain them allowing certain special stances
-Redo Traditions (yet again, doh!)
-Tweak AI tradition values
-Decide what to do with Marines
--A. Turn them into a support company
--B. Deduce manpower each month, according to the amount of ships built
--C. Create a sort of "Raise Marines" button, like the Levy system, using Slaves to recruit Marines
obione69 21. feb. 2021 kl. 0:34
thank you very much.. your mod is amazing.. but so far im a little disappointed with the update, the AI doesnt seem to build large armies anymore
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 21. feb. 2021 kl. 0:10
yeah I've been playing quite a bit of 2.0!
I've tracked down everything required to do!
obione69 20. feb. 2021 kl. 21:45
any chance for an update please?
SanhyBoy 24. jan. 2021 kl. 8:20
i give award
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 23. jan. 2021 kl. 2:46
Thanks @QuietRustle, much appreciated and yeah, I've got tons of things planned for 2.0! ;>
QuietRustle 22. jan. 2021 kl. 19:34
Absolutely recommended. This is an amazing modification and I really do think that this should be leading the way in influencing the developers to rethink the way they've got unit layout organized. Great job! Please keep up the good work. Super excited to use this in the coming patch! Thanks again for this.

Just an Update: Currently waiting on the next version of Imperator!
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 18. aug. 2020 kl. 5:05
There should be a decision as Rome which you'll be bale to choose, once you conquered a few strategic key-locations in central greece to build octeres :>
obione69 18. aug. 2020 kl. 4:48
im not familiar with that decision.. i looked and could not find it
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 17. aug. 2020 kl. 8:28
Didi you complete the according decision to unloc octeres (polyremes are still locked for rome)
obione69 16. aug. 2020 kl. 22:32
hey, thanks for the update. i tried importing 4 extra wood into Rome and still cannot build them.. and i have all military traditions unlocked
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 16. aug. 2020 kl. 8:37
hey obione, I've changed the amount of wood required to build heavy ships!
Octeres require atleast 2 wood in a province, while Mega-Polyremes require atleast 3! (I should probably write that somewhere down, or simply explain it in the Tooltip)
obione69 16. aug. 2020 kl. 7:27
hey, thanks for the update.. but one tiny issue, Rome cannot build any heavy ships. the port says i need wood but i have it at that city and still cannot build..

thank you for the update
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 15. aug. 2020 kl. 1:14
if you find any more bugs, be sure to let me know!
(Porting has been solely done on the base of the error log :D)
Feesh 15. aug. 2020 kl. 0:53
That's Dandy!
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 15. aug. 2020 kl. 0:46
Hotfix for 1.5.1 has been released!

Noteable changes:
-Fixed a Typo in the North-African Traditions (that one got past QA)
-Reverted Tradegood changes to vanilla, otherwise they mess up (Economy is part of an upcoming new "Historical X" Mod anyways)
Feesh 14. aug. 2020 kl. 16:34
I am sorry that pdx is making it hard to update mods. It's kind of like apologizing for a jackass friend being such a jackass. I am new to the game and saw how wildly ahistorical their legion composition is and went looking for something to address this. I am going to favorite this one in hopes that one day it will be up to date. Thank you for your work. I want to try this one.
John Helldiver  [ophavsmand] 14. aug. 2020 kl. 10:12
Thanks a lot!
Currently looking into updating it!
