After some testing, I believe it has to do with the 3D Buildings. By turning them off my game became more stable. You can do this in settings. I also found turning off 3D models does not help, so it's not an animation issue; however, turning them off will speed up the game a lot . Helps for getting to op dates in a hurry.

I am experiencing this as well. It only happens when viewing earth after the war begins and units are engaging in combat. It will even occur if the game is paused. My guess is it has something to do with an animation.

Thus far I can keep playing if I stay focused on the space map.

This is one of the most incredible mods I have ever played. Had a few errors here and there, some crashes but the sheer amount of dedication and passion on display is astounding.
