why can't you just add lights into it? because it's pitch black

I gave this a try and the skybox stays black I agree with them without a tutorial this map only good for complete darkness theme maps and videos sadly :( may use it for those in the future but I will look into a different map ^^ still ok though for those kinds of content so I will still say it is decent

tried using console command for skybox based on valve tutorials and still doesn't work. this is an old post so probably no use now but would likely be more helpful if you made a quick video tutorial/or just screen recording of how to light this map....doesn't seem to be working for me

I kinda wish the desert version was removed of lights as well. Good for making proper sunrises and sunsets.

So how do you add mapwide lights?

when i try loading it gives me this in the console "CModelLoader::Map_IsValid: 'maps/deserttest2_black.bsp' is not a valid BSP file"

I don't use Source Filmmaker, but I think it would make sense to ship the map with lights as they appear in the screenshot given on this page.

Its a dark map, IE no lights. you have to add lights manually. you can also right click the viewport and select disable lighting.

add lights manually by creating animationset for lights. or recompiling the map yourself in hammer and adding lights there.

right-click the view port and disable lighting so you can see. then move till you are close to the ground. re enable lighting then try spawning your light. You may have spawn under the map, or high above it.

I added the skybox and such, but all i can see now is black and the skybox picture. The worse part is that when i add a light, not only does it NOT show up, but it doesn't even let me change the settings of the light to make it brighter. Is something wrong here?

You mean in SFM? just rightclick on an empty space in the animation set editor and select create new animation set lights.

Just one question, I loaded a "dark" cp_dustbowl map, and I couldn't figure out how to add lights. So, how do you add lights?
