@bulkmoerls your render process looks like poster_aa is enabled, and console output for render result seems to say it's set to true. godrays render doesn't seem to like aa as it uses different source for getting picture, which seems to break it. put "poster_aa 0"

Hey! I imagine you get this one frequently, but where do the renders for poster_soft save to? I was unable to find mine in the GMod screenshots folder.

you can upload it as unlisted on youtube if you can. i guess issue may be within the soft lamp settings, given that you don't have aa or additive turned on

Oops, forgot to mention the passes, but I also varied the pass numbers from 1-5 to see if it made any difference it still just rendered black.

Yeah, fully black. The settings I used was pretty much setting the accuracy between 500-1000 (like you said, maybe I just had to mess around with the settings). I varied the quality from 1-3 to see if it made any difference and it didn't. Even tried changing Soft lamp settings, though to be fair I didn't change the default settings too much. And sure, I'll record it when I'm back on GMod again. Just let me know how I could send it over.

and it's fully black when doing a render? what's the settings for godrays render? also, would you be able to record how it happens somehow? as i think i'll need to see what's going on to be able to tell what's up

Yeah, I seem to be having the same issues regarding godrays as @bulkmoerls

No clue what's up, I've tried all values I can and it renders nothing but black.

issue with manager popping up randomly when it wasn't bound to any key should be fixed now, though i am not 100% sure whether it won't pop up for others, as it seemed rather random. so far i think it may be some weird order of operations in lua, where logical "and" weren't being performed last, leading to weirdness.

unsure what's the issues with godrays are exactly, for that part i think you may need to mess around with lamp settings and set "accuracy" to be around 500-1000 so there would be enough planes for it to work with

and i still have no idea what's up with that gameplay surface shape not working, is it still the case without other addons enabled? as all i can do rn is suspect that something else could be overriding soft lamps or smth

i tried it on my end, poster_aa with godrays works weird, and addittive just turns everything white, because it just adds white colors to white colors, so both would have to be turned off if you're doing godrays

have you checked whether it'll work without other addons enabled? you can disable/enable them without having to unsub through the addons menu, which is in main menu, just in case

For most purposes it doesn’t need to be changed. This offset is calculated based on the model you select in the soft lamps C Menu

and setting surface shape keeps only 1 light on? will it work if you disable other addons? iirc there was some robots ragdolls addon that had other soft lamps packed in them that may conflict with these

changing the surface shape to line (haven't tested the others) simply doesn't change on my end, and no I don't have the shadows disabled. It seems to work fine for other people I asked so I really don't know why it's broken for me

you didn't happen to disable shadows on gameplay lights? that way they don't show up with r_flashlighrdrawfrustrum on, though shadow disabling can only be done through editing properties, not through the tool for spawning lamps

strange, i can't reproduce it so far. does it happen consistently? if so, there's no addon conflicts? could be worth to check if it will happen without other addons enabled to be sure

I am also receiving the manager opening on it's own, no keys pressed and had to disconnect to remove it.

strange, this is the second report of the manager just opening without a key set. it should be possible to open/close it through console with softlamp_manager command, or you can find a way to set a key to toggle it with in utilities tab, how did it open on your end in the first place? if you enter softlamp_manager_key, will it return any number other than 0?

seems like it doesn't like that there's no button bound for the manager, check utilities tab, there should be "soft lamp manager" tab, inside of which you can bind a key to open it with. gonna get on fixing the error once i get time for it

Enjoy the update guys, hopefully the softlamp manager I put in helps some people out as well as the presets :) - mind you they're also shareable from softlamp_presets.txt in data/ if you'd like to either back them up or share them.

does it happen in some specific circumstances, always or not? perhaps you also could do a check whether there's some addon conflict by disabling other addons except for soft lamps, and see whether this issue will still happen, just to make sure there's nothing interfering

iirc if your shadow settings are set to low, then it won't draw shadows, and frustrum only appears for shadowed lights, so try to see whether you've set shadows to max in graphics settings
