I would like to see an update to this, thank you very much!

@AerosAtar, turns out Rim of Madness - Bones just includes the patches from this mod now? Good to know. Anyway I'll just remove support for ROM Bones I guess, doesn't fix the error on their end, but they can sort that out themselves.

And on that note, I wasn't even planning on updating this for 1.5 in the first place. Someone else can continue it, or maybe the mod authors of mods that add bones can just patch stuff instead. Anything in this mod is free to use.

The AA patch needs looking at:

[Insects don't have bones - Start of stack trace]
Verse.PatchOperationAdd(xpath="/Defs/ThingDef[@Name="AA_PseudoBaseMechanoid"]/statBases"): Failed to find a node with the given xpath

Dang, a megapede ate my colonist and I was hoping to get his bones back.

Outland - Core by Neronix17 has implemented bones now as well (it apparently includes patches to integrate with Rim of Madness bones, but with both of them and this mod installed [in 1.5 game version] vanilla insects are now giving both chitin and bones along with their meat when butchered... any chance we could get an update of this mod to also work with that framework to get rid of megaspider bones? If and when you have the time, obviously.

Thanks for making the game more immersive for pedantic entomology nerds like me who hate endoskeletons in arthropods haha

Working in 1.5, no issues so far.

Oh I see, I didn't look too closely.
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 14. maj 2024 kl. 10:19
@#6, it's on a new page because it's an unstable release that is constantly changing.
#6 14. maj 2024 kl. 5:03
Just FYI Medieval Overhaul is updated, it's just on a new page for some reason.
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 9. maj 2024 kl. 14:10
No idea, not much point looking when neither of the mods it requires are properly updated to 1.5
Doomchibi 8. maj 2024 kl. 12:31
Would this need an update for 1.5?
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 26. maj 2022 kl. 13:57
Update to 1.1.3
- The mod is no longer marked as requiring Rim of Madness - Bones, as it now uses loadfolders.
- Added a patch for Alpha Animals, thanks to Hiroyan!

Lala finally added in my bone and fat stuff to Medieval Overhaul, and never told me. As such, this mod now prevents certain animals from giving bone when butchered, with some not giving fat as well.

Wow, thanks Steam, epic.

Guess I'll just have to add you.
Zen  [ophavsmand] 26. maj 2022 kl. 3:16
@SirMashedPotato

I checked how Alpha Animals handles things and it turns out they did the exact same thing they did for the Alpha Biomes mod:

They added their own "copy" of the class for BaseInsect (which they did for the base class of the chunks (stone chunks etc.) in Alpha Biomes).

AA_AlphaBaseInsect

I'll make a quick patch for myself based on this one, but I will gladly share it with you once I upload it on my Google Drive, since no one else seems share their links.

@VolatileGlitchAviator, neat. Feel free to link it here if you decide to upload it.
VolatileGlitchAviator 3. apr. 2022 kl. 21:28
Actually nevermind I just made one :D
VolatileGlitchAviator 3. apr. 2022 kl. 20:52
Hey Sir Mashed Potato!! long time no talk!!! i was just wondering if possible a patch for alpha animals can be made? for the alpha animals black hive bugs, they drop bones
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 26. sep. 2021 kl. 11:42
@VolatileGlitchAviator, I can take a look once MO is out of beta.
VolatileGlitchAviator 25. sep. 2021 kl. 18:10
any chance you could do a medieval overhaul version of this for bones? (just wondering)
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 17. sep. 2021 kl. 18:12
@MadMarbleHead, sure, go for it!
MadMarbleHead 17. sep. 2021 kl. 18:11
Ok, that's good to know. Would it be fine if I made my own patch using this as a base?
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 17. sep. 2021 kl. 13:30
@MadMarbleHead, sorry for the late reply. There's likely quite a few from Alpha Animals that this patch doesn't cover. Due to the sheer scale of that mod, and the constant updates, I am very likely to not support it.
MadMarbleHead 16. sep. 2021 kl. 0:28
This does not appear to work for the Bumbledrones from Alpha Animals, I'd greatly appreciate a patch.
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 24. juli 2021 kl. 23:55
@Nimrod, no problem.
Nimrod 24. juli 2021 kl. 23:25
Thank you for the update!
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 24. juli 2021 kl. 12:13
@ryoyo, it should work fine, but I'll update it for the 1.3 tag.
ryoyo 24. juli 2021 kl. 11:01
Is this 1.3 compatible? If not, are there any plans to make it so?
Mad Derp Packer 24. feb. 2021 kl. 4:42
maybe use it as like the turtle shell thingy
Bloop 2. okt. 2020 kl. 5:54
Considering how large the insects are they kinda need to have internal bones just to not collapse in on themselves. Nice mod though.
MIKA 31. aug. 2020 kl. 3:22
Nice balancing mod!
Are Black insects from "Alpha Animals" affected?
They drop black insect chitin by defoult, so bones are too op.
TheSevenSins 15. aug. 2020 kl. 11:35
Mechanoids shouldn,t have any either XP
Enlonwhite 24. juni 2020 kl. 23:37
Wait why is it called an Exoskeleton then? if you cant use it for bone like things?

joke aside, I see why you have this mod, I just dont know if it should be such a worry
DionysusMadd 3. apr. 2020 kl. 7:39
ssshhh you're ruining my lack of immersion :)
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 31. mar. 2020 kl. 12:07
It's just an xml patch but sure. You may have, it's been a while since I played and was just going off of what I remembered.
KingSihv 31. mar. 2020 kl. 1:12
Had thought I'd already fixed the mechanoid bones thing. Mind if I take a peak at your code? Might integrate it into the main mod.
SirMashedPotato  [ophavsmand] 30. mar. 2020 kl. 17:46
Insects have exoskeletons made of chitin instead. The RimWorld insectoids may be different, but I am basing this off of real insects.
Ny_Hate_You 30. mar. 2020 kl. 16:45
But insects have skeletons if i'm not mistaken
