@Jivali if you delete the piston head and then remove the armor block under that you'll have enough room to place a small connector. I hope that works for you.
Namaris 5 mei 2023 om 21:11
@jivaii sounds like a challenge ;)
jivaii 5 mei 2023 om 20:46
Would you consider a mk 2 of this with the new small connector?
Five 27 sep 2020 om 11:55
@KillJoy thank you so much, cant wait to test it
Scruffy 27 sep 2020 om 8:56
Have you watched the Expanse? I found myself to also use this for recon as they did in the show.
Osker  [auteur] 27 sep 2020 om 8:28
Thanks for the comments Killjoy, I've found this little guy to be useful in a lot of situations.

I love this design! what I end up using it for is as a long range ore scout by sending it drifting towards an asteroid and I add a sensor so when it's close the inertial dampeners kick in and it slows down to broadcast the asteroid's contents. It also informed me as to how tricky it is to guess the distance when eyeballing the asteroid.

@HyFive If you press Shift + K you get a menu that allows you to remotely access nearby grids. I recommend being near an antenna with a far enough range as the player has a communication range of only 200m while a ship's (Large or Small) can be all the way up to 50km, or infinite if you have enough power, line of sight and two laser antenna

how do i command the drone though?
Osker  [auteur] 2 sep 2020 om 16:06
You can attach a rotor to any ship or station and use that as a docking point for the Probe. It will work alone or with any ship or station.

does this only work with the Oxbow?

i have had and played space engineers for almost a year but im still a noob and i also have no idea how to connect to and command a drone :/
Sandst4rm 13 mrt 2020 om 17:53
No worries mate i was just being cheeky.
Osker  [auteur] 13 mrt 2020 om 17:21
@ Sandst4rm .... Sorry, I wasn't trying to sound like a smart ass, I didn't understand your question at first. You're right, it wasn't designed for that and probably won't fit.
Osker  [auteur] 13 mrt 2020 om 5:55
Make a bigger corridor?
Sandst4rm 13 mrt 2020 om 2:49
So its not meant to fit in corridors?

Cause it wont.
Osker  [auteur] 12 mrt 2020 om 22:26
This drone is only 45 blocks and I posted it as a convenience for any one that took a liking to the Oxbow. What can I say, the workshop is an interesting and unpredictable mystery. But I love it, the staggering amount of creativity that hits the workshop on a daily basis is my favorite must see daily ritual.

How's it feel to be the most popular Cougarbait in the world right now?? Kudos! I gravel at your feet!!
Osker  [auteur] 12 mrt 2020 om 17:51
@Gerdih, ty and yeah
Osker  [auteur] 12 mrt 2020 om 17:50
If that's you giving me a high 5 then I'd say its epic!
[SPITFYRE] PJS 12 mrt 2020 om 10:52
@cougerbait how about This Emoji? :cozyspaceengineersb:
Gerdih 12 mrt 2020 om 3:39
Noice design. Yeah the rotor head docking thing is nothing new.
Osker  [auteur] 11 mrt 2020 om 19:50
not as cool as that emoji
tamagotshe 11 mrt 2020 om 19:44
Cool! :whiteninja:
Spaceman Spiff 11 mrt 2020 om 19:06
I haven't done anything with remote-controlled ships, although I usually add a remote control and an PB or two to each design. I need to be more proactive about making sure the designs have a forward-facing camera, too, so that they can be controlled remotely.
Osker  [auteur] 11 mrt 2020 om 18:47
Joking aside, I think the rotor head idea isn't anything new, I just posted this as part of an upgrade to a ship I made and enjoy using as a convenience to any one that decides to use it too.
Osker  [auteur] 11 mrt 2020 om 18:36
I think you should publish it, even if you tried to take my idea, lol
[SPITFYRE] PJS 11 mrt 2020 om 17:55
@cougarbait. man you took my idea. (the rotor head) i already Had it ready to Publish! but i don't mind i'll just wait a bit
Osker  [auteur] 11 mrt 2020 om 16:20
Thanks Spiff, I've kind of been into the versatility of remotely controlling ships lately
Spaceman Spiff 11 mrt 2020 om 11:26
I never dreamed of using a rotor head for docking/undocking operations! Brilliant!!
