for some reason the blood turns out like a bright red for me rather than the darker tone seen in the screenshots

I wish there was a mod that lowered the gore to exactly like L4D1, just the decapitated heads etc.

can you make a mod where you can only shoot of limbs and legs and also the head, basically just the same as l4d1 gore

Check with the developer console if it's not a "thumbs.db" conflict. If it is, you're fine, the thumbs file is useless.
