I couldn't get the Rocket Launcher to spawn after picking up "The Key to the City" so had to noclip through the door after following a walkthrough. I guess I ain't getting a rocket launcher in my playthrough am I?

This map's enemy placement was pure cancer. I had to abuse CWM and spawn the BFG from Doom 2016 constantly just so I can stand a chance. But I'll still favorite and upvote the map anyway because why not.

This map is really bad. Its very unbalanced, and very bad optimised, you cant pass it through only in godmode. Dont waste your time on it.

Mkay, visual is wonderful. You can also play with dynamic lighting turned off. But dude... I easy beat original TFE/TSE and BFE campaings on serious. Couldn't get past the second elevator on fucking easy. I so need sledgehammer. And this place with wooden bridges that break. You cannot match opponents in such places who can push you. Also, you cannot put a werebull in the corridor. Please, try by yourself beat this map on normal. Thank u and sorry my russian.

By the way, if you're curious you could do a little bit of investigation. As you saw, the editor has a different set of options than the main game. The only option that greatly affected framerate for me is the one I mention in the performance notes, but reading the feedback here makes me wonder whether there is one or more other options that are similarly disproportionately degrading performance. I found the one I mention by carefully comparing the options, so if you want you could try the same: restore some dynamic lights until the performance is noticeably lower, and then compare the options for anything that is different.

Forgot to say, I've now played through the map after dealing with the dynamic lights. Aside from those, the map is really well-made.
It looks gorgeous, plays great, the story is neat, the choice of different routes is good and while the boss is simple, it's still pretty unique. Also, Netricsa's dialog windows are a great addition.

Found the file, it's what must be the early name, "Tower of Set".
Jesus Christ, every single torch, brazier and fire-based light source across the map is a dynamic light, no wonder the performance is awful.
And I've found out why the mapmaker never noticed the problem; he must have only tested it within the Editor and not actually in the game. In the Editor, there's no performance drops.

I'm trying to open it in the Editor and remove them myself like PLAYER says they have, but I can't find where the WLD file is in the directory, and they're not telling me where it is.

@Wolvinof not in the files, just load the map in the editor and manually explore the map deleting all the orange balls from each light source. it's a pain to do but you end up with a playable map.

i think some of the framerate issues are because the map is made up of huge boxes and other shapes that are out of view but seem to eat up fps. deleting all the dynamic light helped though...if anyone else wants to do it, you just need to delete the orange balls from all the lights, those are the dynamic lights. takes a bit of time though!

i deleted all the dynamic lights from the map using the editor, it's much more playable now...f me there were a lot of them.

It looks nice so far, but the optimization is terrible. Even the first cutscene has a poor framerate.
Like everyone else says, cut down on the dynamic lighting.

The map looks gorgeous! Also liked Netricsa's narrative. But the gameplay needs some serious balancing. Way too many enemies in a tight spaces and spawns are way too frequent. There just isn't enough room and firepower to deal with such hordes.

There are also issues with map being 'non-linear' as you called it - there is a secret that can rob me from a double barrel and even a serious bomb. I definitely didn't praise you for the last boss just for the record if that wasn't obvious already. Another thing is as more knowledgeable people in technical matters than me said and you yourself - if the low fps comes from the lights then maybe you could stop using those dynamic lights and replace them with sth else. So again - optimize and balance this map cause at least it doesn't look bad.

I like how after my comment (and response to it) there is even more people that were (obviously) bothered by the same things as i was but anyway, good that you haven't told me to get a better pc or lower settings if have troubles with fps. Next thing is i'm pretty sure you yourself haven't even played it (especially on serious) to tell how badly balanced this thing is and believe me, i'm not a person to be bothered by difficulty in that game (or being weak whatever you want to call it).

Optimization and balance needs some work. Also HD weapons have broken animation while sprinting (or rather they don't have any obviously). Apart from the issues map looks really good.

The optimization and balance is awful, having barely any health pick ups, tons of enemies in small cramped areas and ton of big damage dealing enemies in middle of a boss fight does not make the fight challenging or fair. As for the map design itself, its great. But please, optimize and rebalance the mod so it can become fully enjoyable.

mate, I would strongly suggest removing the dynamic lights. SED just isn't built for using them so liberally, no matter how powerful a PC anyone has. I couldn't get very far due to the extreme fps drops.

Likewise, the gameplay is frustrating, shoving tons of enemies into cramped rooms is a cheap method of padding the level out. I would love to dissect this mod more, but because of the optimization problems, it's difficult to even play.

This is the WORST MAP in Serious Sam's History. Under the shell of a FANTASTIC LEVEL DESIGN - there is a DISGUSTING BALANCE(even on Normal Difficult) and an OPTIMIZATION that surpassed the OPTIMIZATION OF Serious Sam 4. BRAVO:steamthumbsdown:

Hi Nimfomantka, thanks for the feedback! I'm sure a lower difficulty would help if you have trouble with a high one. Serious is a good challenge, and requires excellent skill. I'm glad you enjoyed one of the bosses though! There are sectors, but the low FPS comes from lights on screen, which would not benefit from more sectors. I appreciate your experience with big maps!

Serious difficulty gameplay:
- balance - unexistent, atrocious, absolutely disgusting, couldn't handle shitstorm of enemies without god mode (boss is the most trash bulletsponge crap designed boss i've seen in a long time)
- optimization (although i have only 1GB of vram) - laggy, no sectors i played more detailed, bigger maps/mods that are really well optimized - fps through entire playthrough was around 5-30, mostly lower part of this scale
The only thing that is good here is the areas you walk through, they look nice ngl and that's about it from good things.
For the love of God Almighty please tweak this map in terms of mentioned balance and optimization.
