I played it without using it. I just portalled on the last sloped platform and slung meself onto the finish.

It is used, you press the button to raise a platform that'll take you to the end.

I was just curious. The button for example is not used. But it appears that it was intended to be pressed during a fling.

I see what you mean, but I make the level have enough space for you to fling around the map so you can make it to the exit.

Large parts of the level go unused. Is that intentional?
