@Joe78man Yeah people used to not plan for the future, silly crusaders not considering cars... Not to mention living in efficient US cities is overall worse than those inefficient European cities. Bad take all around

I agree. The aim here is to make semi-realistic layouts, not effective ones ;).

The problem I see with cities is that the distance of crossings is way to long, the blocks leave a huge gap in the middle.
European cities have more random streets because they started thousands of years back when no furutre thinking was considered, no building plan, no road hierarchy. It looks nice but it's less effective

It will work for every new city, and should work for existing cities when the mod is loaded in your savegame, but only for new roads generated in game.
It doesn't impact the way you create new roads, just the way roads are procedurally generated by the game.

Is this obly meant for new games I suppose, for in existing games I can bend my streets as much as I want?

You're welcome.

Just what I was after, many thanks for the mod!

It is better for it to be a mod, so you can disable it in individual save games for a more US or EU style depending on the game you're playing, thank you!

Yep, that's all that the mod does, that's right. I've set this angle to 5.
But I think some users may prefer subscribe a mod than modifying the game files. As an user, I usually do prefer mods.

instead of using a mod, change settings in base_config.lua to:
game.config.townMajorStreetAngleRange = 10.0 (default is .0 )
