It’s not a feature, because the actual feature doesn’t work as intended. Tallbirds aren’t actually meant to target their own naturally spawned children, they only do so upon being reloaded. Similarly, teen birds won’t target their parent bird until they’re reloaded. I’ve tested this a bit. I’m going to be working on another mod that just disables eggs from hatching in nests altogether, so there won’t be any natural overpopulation, and also means you won’t see the buggy behavior as it will hardly ever get a chance to happen in the first place that way.

This isn't a bug fix, it's the removal of a feature.

the small birds should be unable to lay eggs to avoid like mass production of them, also kinda wish your original bird would stay with you even through adult hood but.. they grow up so fast :(

I once read they implemented that as to limit the prefabs to reduce lag.

Yeah but like sometimes they don't die obviously because you'll find a teenbird around, I once found a Tallbird fortress and there was only teenbirds there, I realise it's a bit weird because they only survive if you're not around to watch them get killed but meh, it seems intentional to me.

Maybe they're just really territorial and just fucking eat their babies if they don't sprint off immediately

Tallbirds giving birth and immediately killing smallbirds (which don’t target tallbirds and die in one hit) doesn’t make any sense.

I thought it was like intentional, if the youngster is strong enough they can kill their parent and take over the nest, simple as that, survival of the fittest.

Someone should make a mod for that, that would be fun to have tall bird families and large nesting areas or so

Tallbirds don’t naturally make nests, or even claim birdless nests.
