I agree with TheScholar. This mod is a must. Pawn default targeting is horrendous.

I would LOVE for a pawn by pawn setting like the others have said. Snipers and rockets go for the furthest guy while shotguns and close range weapons go for the closest guys.

can you add a feature that lets you customize the settings per-colonist?
snipers fire at the furthest one,shotgunners fire at the closest and grenade launchers won't fire if the target is closer than 3 tiles

Cool mod! Can you make a version of this mod that makes colonists target enemies based on the weapon the enemy is carrying? For example, I would want the colonists to shoot at enemies with frag grenades or molotov cocktails first, before they get too close. That would be great!

2Captain Kaivarian (freeHK): yes. Even turrets aim at the nearest target, because each vanilla entity uses the same target selection algorithm
