I've played a Secrets of the Shroud game to endgame with this mod and no issues. All of the particle effects and cool visuals of this mod still function with the old ship parts, however there are no new effects for the new psionic weapons (obviously).

I wonder if the author plans on updating the mod for those new weapons?

Are the addons not compatible with this mod or with the Ironman mode? I use this because i use another mod for behavior changes and i would still like to use more particles but dont know it would work

What I've discovered with mods in PDX games, is the mod if it was originally made for an earlier game version will still work with older game versions, even if it's updated to newer ones.

Please upload the 3.14 version too. Stellaris 4.x is still a mess.
Do you still have the 3.14.15 version of this? Steam unfortunately automatically updates all mods and I forgot to make a backup. And after only seeing these graphics for a while, Vanilla now looks bad.

@kreon - Looking at the actual ap_ballistics file in the mod folder, whatever Irony is saying, neither of those things are true in the actual files. There is a closing brace in both of those entries and if you're getting an error for those lines, based on what follows them in other clauses, you should also be getting errors for the next few too.

@Chickenhunt - what I am getting in the Stellaris error.log is a missing "shield_impact" texture in the same file (ap_ballistics) referenced between lines 528 - 967 (inclusive). And also "Unexpected token max_duration" near line 22 in ap_missiles.txt

Can't say I've noticed any weirdness in game though, so maybe these errors don't matter?

I guess this might be because the XL slot added in the mod section is a turret rather than a fixed one?

It seems that the Origin version also has the same problem. In the first few test battles, the particle effects of windup and the trace after the main gun was fired could be seen, but for some reason, it stopped working after a while. I can see that some of the Ai's ships' kinetic weapons fire projectiles with trails, but my Titans can't, the Mega Cannon is using the projectile of L artillery.

@Lyv Because changing those make it non-ironman compatible.

Vanilla does not have unique XL effects so I had to make new code. New code is not ironman compatible, only replacing effects is.

It seems that, for some reason, the Mega Cannon is using the projectile of L artillery. After I overwrote the artillery’s projectile with that of the Mega Cannon, the Mega Cannon in-game suddenly displayed the visual effects it was supposed to have.

For some reason, the XL artillery cannons I'm using on my Titan (with modded ship sections and vanilla weapons) have visually identical projectiles to the L artillery, and they don't show any trail effects at all. In fact, the Gauss cannons on the enemy's defense platforms, which are only M-slot weapons, look way cooler by comparison. QAQ

figured it out had to unsub and resub in STEAM not in a browser.

I know you're probably too busy with the main mod right now, so I'll be waiting for you to have time to finish this one as well.

Wanted to go for a synth queen run, and there's an achievement for it, but it's very hard to enjoy how the vanilla combat looks like in Stellaris.

I'd like to echo what Beaver said last year - the laser effects are just too much. I loved ASB for its amazing graphics, but couldn't stand how it altered combat.

Please consider using "turbo laser" star wars-like laser effect instead of a continous stream of energy. I found myself dropping laser weapons completely because I feel they confuse the battlefield a lot. thank you mod is great ;)

To help with the bug, my game crash when a ships attacks with the plasma thrower. I'm not sure if more weapons are affected, but for sure that ones makes my game crash.
