I didn't purchase GS, so I can't. However, people have posted in comments to my other R&F maps that they start up in GS just fine. Weather effects work, there are just no volcanoes other than the ones that come as natural wonders.

Found this while browsing today, would love to try it out with bells and whistles, any chance you are updating this to GS?

I want a Gathering Storm version of this

Thank you so much! I really love these types of maps. I really wished more of them were part of the official game instead of purely random. Thank you again!

Thanks, @Lord Jason. I would've drawn-up these maps regardless (I can't help myself), but it makes it much easier to justify all the time that went into them when you realize that there are more people like me out there who like these kinds of maps. I end up putting them together myself because there are so few like them out there...
Unfortunately, because of time constraints, this map: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1884605758&searchtext= will have been my last. Do give 'em a "thumbs-up", so others can find 'em later, too. Cheers.

Hey just wanted to say I've been playing on your maps for a few days now and they are excellent. I'm a sucker for realistic maps and yours delivers. Keep up the good work!

@DOGGEAUX I've created a discussion over here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1884605758 that details how you can download the source file to that map I mentioned below. Have fun with it!
BOYZANTIUM 8. okt. 2019 kl. 21:26
sounds interesting!
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 7. okt. 2019 kl. 22:46
@DOGGEAUX I already tossed the World Builder file you'd need to do that. But: I'm about to post one last, huge map I've worked on for days now. It'll actually be a much more rewarding map for such a project, as it depicts a world made up of oceans, rainforests and tropical islands. I'm happy to hand you the World Builder file for that one. I'll send you a friend request when I'm done building my mod pack with it, and we can exchange then.

what are the tile dimensions of this map? i want to see how much work it might be to manually go through and plonk GS-appropriate terrain features on it (i would like to do this)
andres r 7. okt. 2019 kl. 5:52
Thankyou! Too bad that it doesn't support GS terrain features though..
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 6. okt. 2019 kl. 13:05
@andres r I updated the "How to Play This Map" section above.
andres r 6. okt. 2019 kl. 5:11
How can I use this with GS ruleset? Can I convert it somehow?
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 6. okt. 2019 kl. 2:30
@Max Thanks man, for testing it AND sharing the results. I'm really grateful. I don't own GS, so I couldn't do the legwork myself. It actually makes sense: since GS is the second expansion, it should be downward compatible with the first. Cheers mate.
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 6. okt. 2019 kl. 2:28
@lilacnightshade You got me. I like making maps.
Max 5. okt. 2019 kl. 17:49
Seems like it works with GS. I read that you said you designed it for R&F. I bypassed the compatibility warning and launched it in GS anyway. The game seemed to start with no problem. Of course there aren't any volcanoes or other GS stuff, but I didn't expect any. But I played a few turns with no ill effects
TheEepyMagi 5. okt. 2019 kl. 15:14
Why does this require rise/fall? Just curious, i have GS and not RF and was wondering if i could play the map without RF.
MidwestRibfest 5. okt. 2019 kl. 10:41
Eyy that's where I recognize you from! You're the one who made those amazing and completely unique Tropico 5 maps! It is so awesome to see you've expanded out to Civ 6. Just by the screenshots I can tell I'm in for a treat. Your attention to detail is unrivaled and I'm very excited to play as soon as I hit 'post comment'.

I always hated playing mods that require 'older' versions to play but this will be the only exception. This is too cool of an opportunity to pass up! :steamhappy:
dbemont 5. okt. 2019 kl. 10:34
Turns out that it was a matter of my using Gathering Storm. Which I had figured included Rise and Fall. But anyway, I cannot access your mod playing with Gathering Storm. Too bad, looked interesting.
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 5. okt. 2019 kl. 9:59
@dbemont Double-check each step under "How to Play This Map". If it doesn't show, it's likely because you didn't enable/complete the download of the mod pack (which contains the map), or you're trying to run it while you have Gathering Storm enabled. I discussed that with @Selectron below: because the mod pack was saved under the R&F ruleset (Maps:Expansion1Maps), it will probably prevent it from showing (or showing it as disabled) when you currently have GS enabled (Maps:Expansion2Maps).
dbemont 5. okt. 2019 kl. 9:47
Not sure why, but it does not show up as a map type for me.
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 5. okt. 2019 kl. 2:05
@3AlanKing3 Both of the maps I recently posted work the same way. I tried to answer you question over here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1875542693 Hope that helps.
3AlanKing3 4. okt. 2019 kl. 19:49
How many possible start locations are there for the human player?
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 4. okt. 2019 kl. 10:57
@bemloco Fixed ;)
bemloco 4. okt. 2019 kl. 10:21
Excelent mod, mate. The map is sick, and I think the cartoony look is the weakest part of Civ 6. Let me just nitpick, it's "Mato Grosso do Sul" and not "DOL SUL". I just get triggered since we don't speak Spanish in Brazil.
Selectron 2. okt. 2019 kl. 23:27
No worries mate, many thanks for the map. Cheers! :steamhappy:
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 2. okt. 2019 kl. 20:44
@Selectron "people like me" ... people like us; if you like this map, you're probably playing Civilization the same way I do. Always nice to run into people who value the same things in a game!
Btw: don't bother with the GS test. I thought about it some more: since I built the mod pack only with the R&F ruleset (Maps:Expansion1Maps), it either won't show when GS is enabled, or will be deemed incompatible. Now: I could probably re-build the mod pack and just cheat by also building it for the GS ruleset (Maps:Expansion2Maps), but I have no idea how stable that would be, or how enjoyable, since it would lack map features for the things GS introduced. In any case, I deleted the original World Builder file, so these thoughts are moot regardless.
Thanks for the kind words, and sorry this map will only ever be for Rise & Fall.
Selectron 2. okt. 2019 kl. 16:51
Just wanna say thanks for your creative work over the past couple mods, people like me really appreciate your effort. I've got GS and I might try my hand at generating some results. Keep making maps, I'll keep playing 'em.
The World is a Sandbox  [ophavsmand] 2. okt. 2019 kl. 15:39
Since this mod pack contains only a map file without any custom scripts or assets, I don't see why it shouldn't work with the Gathering Storm expansion (even though it was saved with the R&F ruleset). I suppose it might also work with just the standard game, though it will definitely cause some empty spaces on the map where the R&F Natural Wonders otherwise will show.

Since I don't have GS, anyone with the expansion care to start a GS game with this map and see what happens?
