Unfortunately, the mod doesn't work properly. Sometimes the button shows that it is already active. In one battle, the pikemen lowered their pikes shortly before arriving, but in the next battle, they just stood there and didn't feel like it even though it was activated.

On a sidenote; I still can't decide, if the mod makes it better or worse :)
Currently toggled both off, as it makes my core-units, that are already slow crawl like turtles. (Kush + Suebi campaign)
DeI 1.34 works for me just fine. Rather have it on demand, if needed, even spear or phalanx units can flank without fixed formation.

I tested it and at the time of writing this the mod seems to be broken: with the mod on, phalanx unit have the "Pike Phalanx" ability button seemingly on by default and clicking it has no effect; when enemies get close, the unit seems to lower the pikes and assume formation, but upon contact the enemy will immediately push through the pikes and engage in melee range, deforming the pikemen's line almost immediately. When I tested without the mod, the ability button worked normally and the enemy charge was stopped by the pikes.

For those with the sword draw issues -> Load Order ! when i load this mod BEFORE the DEI core mod it works as intended. Formations don't draw sword on contact but rather have this pike/spear stab animation. it also seems to be effective. I also load the Hoplite Phalanx/Shieldwall before the core DEI mod.

Hello!
I have an issue where the pike units don´t go into a formation, and if attacked, they use swords.
I moved the mod above DEI, still persists.
May be buged, not sure, just thought I would write it here.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is bugged. My pikes immediately switch to swords when the enemy charges them. I can sometimes reform them and get them to use pikes again, but it is basically random.

I dont think this mod works anymore. My Pikes are completely useless. they get into really close quarters combat and die to basic inf.

Did I understand correctly that this mod replaces the animation of the pike with the animation of the spear, or does it not work correctly for me?

genuinely impressed with this mod! The pikes actually seem realistic in combat. Can't speak for the buffs/nerfs, but the behavior feels so much better

I have no issues using this mod, pikemen use pikes in formation attack. Those having trouble, maybe try different load order?

I am also seeing pikemen only use swords in my games as well. Whenever I try to use pikes they just stay up. :VGRUMPY:

Hello Kam ! I am a great fan of your mod that give much power to the macedonian phalanx which has become weaker against the traditional hoplites in the new version of DEI ...
I would like to know if you can make the same version of your mod with the same stats but with keeping the historical behaviour of the phalangites in combat, like in the vanilla ?

Hey, sorry to bother you but I had some issues:
I had a weird bug with the Suebi today. The Markamannoz Speutagardaz (Markamannoz Pikemen) unit I had placed suddenly turned 90 degrees during an engagement.
Hoplites my friend was using did not turn.

I am using both your Hoplite and Phalanx mod. They are loaded before Die though not directly (Settler and Hardcore mod is inbetween).
There is no mod that should affect battle gameplay apart from your and Die.

DeI parts 1, 2 and loaded in that order, and this mod loaded in 4th place. Seleucid sarissas run upto my frontline and engage with swords. Not sure how anybody is getting a different result as this must be the minimum required modcount. Custom battle in some grassland Rome vs Seleucids

Well i made an experiment (This review is with all due respect and i mean no offense to creator) i tested alexander the great custom battle on Macedonia

Me with 812 troops 1 phalanx 2 spear vs 1150 enemy troops, general spear, archer, slinger, and 2 swordys.

In my experiment with your mod i did horrible results with my general dying and losing 461 troops barely wining, due to the lack of proper pike properties as standing ground.
Without your mod i lost 350 troops, and my gen wasnt killed and i tried the same tactics and paths.

So i ran multiple experiments like this and i can say as conclussion that your mod is not bad, and animations are cool, but even with the buffs to proyectiles and stuff they are not even close to vanilla if properly managed, so i would suggest to buff even more this stats and try this experiments on your own.

They pull out the sword when dying, though - but in combat use the pike. Not really an issue for me...
