can you do a rework on this? its so op even when theyre getting flanked from all sides, a homoioi phalanx held off against 3 principes units on its own while flanked from all sides

Give them attack order, they only switch to swords when enemy gets too close.

In general, always give phalanx attack orders to make it preform well.

The way phaalnx is coded, IT DOES NOT count as being in melee combat but having collision, so unless units is being told it is in combat, it does not know it needs to keep poking enemies at a distance.

Is there any way to have hoplites use the "Additionally all animations were swapped to only use spears in combat." without this mod? I want them to use spear since they are spear infantry, but they use sword all the time, even when there is 1,5meter gap betwen the 2 clashing units.

Hey, I noticed that some of the hoplite units are missing their formation attack ability. I'm not sure if this is intended or not. It seems like some of them are missing attributes such as expert charge defense. I was thinking this could be causing it. The ones I've noticed so far are; carthaginian hoplites, bosporan royal guard, bosporan hoplites, colchian foot guards, colchian hoplites,and persian hoplites.

Is this the reason the legionaries walk with their shields braced? in my campaigns the legionaries always walk as if their under fire, and it kinda kills the vibe. any way to fix this?

Its not possible with the way it works here as AI would not know how to use it. This is why this is not in the main mod as while it fixes some phalanx related bugs, on its own it also has separate issues.

I understand, maybe is it possible to update the mod and make the phalanx formation switchable (i.e. hoplites out of phalanx can run, while in phalanx they got the passive bonus but cannot run)? As it is now, for example, in all battles (except in siege of course) against Carthage all their hoplite units lacks behind their army and miss the battle and gets easily circled and routed later, in particular if they are reinforcing

Without it you will have them running around while having all phalanx bonuses.

Is it possible to have the hoplites run? By making them walk-only it breaks the balance of enemy AI reinforcing battles, as their armies are always split (with all the hoplites lacking behind far away, they often arrive when the battle has already ended)

Hey Kam, i'm having an issue with barbarian shield walls, the formation attack toggle is missing from the Hud and the unit is acting like a regular spear unit in combat, as in they are spreading out and not staying in formation in combat. as fair as i can tell its only been happening since the update. i don't think i'm running any conflicting mods that mess with formations, any ideas what it could be?

Is it possible to keep the original Hoplite Phalanx/Shieldwall of the DEI and just change the animation to spear only?

I tried to edit the file in Pack File Manager but it did not work.

This mod just turns all hoplites into spearmen with passive buffs. They will just fight like any other spearmen on walls.

question: if using this and you attack walls with a phalanx, what's their behavior on walls? Do they use swords? Do they get into a "formation"?
