What did Ben ever do to you?! :P

Tried to execute a cube respawn , only to find out it doesn't even help! Didn't have problems bringing stuff to the exit (unlike many) but had issues figuring out virtually everything else. Rushed the turrets, then realized the solution needed a laser beam there anyway (lol), etc... it's not even that complex in retrospect, just weird moves I'm not used to (like the angled panel thingy ) and my own tiredness. Although other people's comments make me think my solution might not be intended, but everything seemed so logical in the end...

Nice use of tricks that usually feel player-hostile, but not here.

Puuuuhhh, Tricky :-) Thanks

Excellent, challenging game.

What happened here? (warning: might be hinting to a solution) https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1994631776
On my second attempt, it worked like I expected it to.

Tricky, but very fun.

Nicely laid out map...it was fun, thanks.

Cool ending. :steamhappy: Angled cube on switch base. Rushed turrets. Had to swap cubes. Fun all around.

This took a while! Good to find a map that looks fab AND has a good logical puzzle. Big thumbs up.

Sorry I broke this one using the turret leg and a weird portal angle

Looks hard at the beginning, but finally it's not. Great job, again!

that was little medium for me. good job btw.
gamecreator 24 ENE 2017 a las 22:25
While I didn't spend 1.5 hours on it, it definitely took me a while to figure it out.

I would rate it a little higher than medium. Great map!

nice map, not too hard but interesting puzzles and good ambiance.
Very painstaking work !
I've enjoyed. Thanks a lot ! ( love details like at the end with the study place. )

Challenging and entertaining. 10/10
Who is Ben?
Nobody No-One 22 FEB 2015 a las 16:01
I don't htink I used the intended solution. My method had no cube respawns necessary, no cube switches, etc.
D3M!5 7 FEB 2015 a las 19:17
Awesome..
Chelliste 1 DIC 2014 a las 18:08
A fun and rewarding puzzle, not too frustrating. I agree about the feeling when you see you need to get both cubes to the exit, but it wasn't as hard as it seemed at first. If you remember about re-spawning for one cube and that drop-down portal surface for the other one, it actually goes pretty quickly. I didn't need to noclip, so I guess I'm not a pro. :D
quat 25 OCT 2014 a las 16:55
Augh, that ending move though. Loved it.
Petutski 26 SEP 2014 a las 13:03
Ha! Just figured out I did not need to do what I did in the previous comment! Nicely done!
Petutski 26 SEP 2014 a las 12:39
Excellentg clever map. I hate setting up redirection cubes on old trash, however. Great work!
TS_Mind_Swept 28 JUL 2014 a las 22:41
Diabolical, Conveluted, words cannot describe these puzzles, and if not for this walkthrough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6rlQsS3STw i would have never finished. Why do you do it? make answers that are obvious so far out of our minds reach? I saw a comment down there that said "You should have seen the look on my face when i saw those two cube buttons", and I was all "EXACTLY!" I actually had less trouble with Delapidation then this series so far, I hope i don't keep getting my rear handed to me on a platter like i have been so far. @.@ 7/10
quat 19 JUN 2014 a las 17:21
Dang. I noclipped to get the second box up there because I'm pro. Coming back later to solve it like a normal person.

Just FYI, one of the boxes is a lot dirtier than the other, if that helps you figure it out in the end.
robin_z 6 JUN 2014 a las 21:55
Figured it out. This was a great map, excellent puzzle.
robin_z 6 JUN 2014 a las 15:23
Finally got past the turrets and up the platform, proud that I'd made it, only to see, with horror that I needed to bring the two cubes with me! Argh! Back to the drawing board.
ASkinnyWhiteGuy 26 ABR 2014 a las 7:43
That awkward moment when you find the secret* room at the end, and your name is Ben...

*I use the term 'secret' very loosely.
ChrisLP 9 ABR 2014 a las 15:08
nice chamber, very clever, yet simple, took me 20 minutes to solve, what looks impossible, is very easy, so nice job, and congratulations for the ending secret writings, i hope this don't sound like a spoiler, i'm saying WHERE to find it. Add me if you want, i build chamber too.
Very large ones.

Also, @Instantiation

I totally just ran at them. I also fell once or twice, and the save happens right before I kill them, so I did it each and every time, so it wasn't luck. I killed them by knocking them over a total of 9 times altogether, 3 times I had to do with with 3 turrets (so, 3x3).
KaystrySwine!!! <3<3<3 31 MAR 2014 a las 22:59
Incredibly, I spent about 30 minutes thinking about it in the beginning and getting nowhere. Once I invited my ex-girlfriend over, however, I found myself thinking aloud a lot more and solved it fairly quickly and nearly prematurely (perhaps why she's an ex).

If anyone's having trouble, use the Rubber Duck method. Computer programmers often sit a Rubber Duck by their computer to talk to out loud so that they can verify that the logic of their program actually makes sense. Having someone or something to talk out the reasoning is very helpful. Try talking aloud, even without someone or something.
Konke 22 MAR 2014 a las 7:22
Excellent visuals, perhaps a little bit laggy on my computer but still looks good. I see you've put a lot of work into the layout. I found the puzzle quite difficult, but that's just me. At the end of it, well done.

это было очень тяжело
dues 6 FEB 2014 a las 12:54
Ya, i also feel like i cheated with angled cubes. I didn't look at the solution, but my way didn't seem like your style. Still, a nice confidence booster level. I hope the next one crushes me.
Instantiation 28 ENE 2014 a las 8:49
A fairly clever map. I was pretty pleased with myself when I got the solution.
Also, I like that the turrets were actually a threat and required intervention of the laser variety . It's never satisfying when I can just run at them and win.
marius.bratecu 21 ENE 2014 a las 16:23
my solution feelt bugy as it involved placing one of the cubes at an angle to rise the bridge using the rised tile at the buton near the laser
ZAEROS 21 ENE 2014 a las 2:35
Stunning, even when its a second run from a long time ago.. Definitely the best Map / set of Maps of all time. Thank you.

A++
RagingR2 7 ENE 2014 a las 13:17
I don't know if this was intentional but I felt totally confused by the tilted surface. For some reason I was stuck on the idea that I had to put the lens cube just before the entrance portal. It was possible to hit the laser recepticle that way to raise the bridge, but then there was no way to get to the bridge . I didn't really like this 'dead end' that the map seems to suggest to you. For that, 6/10 from me, but since I can only choose from two options, it's a thumbs up. Your maps are very nicely made otherwise. :p2aperture:

Can you at least make the next one 10% easier? Still cool, even though hard. XD

DISCLAIMER:
Read my profile before reading the rest of my comment!

I found this chamber easier than Part 1 but it is still a challenge none-the-less. Good one! Performing a switcheroo with the two laser cubes and sacrificing one of them twice is required to solve the test.

Thanks, now the glass works properly!
About the light, my env_projectedtexture was actually set correctly but it casted the shadow on the water so it was almost invisible...
The only thing now is the very bright light spot...I thought it was the light_spot but apparently is not...
LoneWolf2056  [autor] 18 NOV 2013 a las 11:14
@[ExR]-IAMV0LDY You need to change the value in the brightness scale for the projected texture, I use between 4-6, the glass requires cubemaps to properly generate reflections, you need to add in env_cubemaps and then build them in game, you should look it up on the Valve Developer Wiki.
[ExR]-IAMV0LDY 18 NOV 2013 a las 10:40
Hey, it's me again with some more questions!
How do you make the strong lights that project shadows? I am working on my map but i can't get that look with the env_projectedtexture!
Other thing: how do you make broken glass windows like the room with the decal "Ben died here"? I tried make em with a prop_dynamic grabbing a glss model but the illimunation of the glass is taotally wrong (in quite dark room it's much brighter than anythign else) with random reflections. Any advise? Thanks!
