@Dan & Phelipe
I'm just too busy with other things. I miss mapping for the source engine, but I've got other projects taking up my free time.

@MetaGarudamon
I used to love taking requests and commissions, but I've been unable to make time for my own projects, let alone others. So I'm sorry to say I can't take your request. : (

Thanks

This model was compiled from 2 files. The first was the one ripped from Mario Kart 64, and the second was made by hand for the collisions. I used XSI|Softimage. It's free and made specifically for creating Source models.
You can get it here: http://www.moddb.com/members/varsity/downloads/autodesk-softimage-mod-tool-75
Psych⊕tic_W⊕nderland 2. nov. 2016 kl. 5:58
well i got one question did this model have 2 or more objects with it? and also im only limited to using blender and hammer
Jack  [ophavsmand] 1. nov. 2016 kl. 21:34
That's why porting environments from one platform to a completely different one is such a pain. It's not hard, but just tedious. I've heard there's software out there that automates some of the process, but I'm not familiar with those.
Psych⊕tic_W⊕nderland 1. nov. 2016 kl. 11:55
the model has like 600 diffrent objects roads buildings etc
Jack  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2016 kl. 20:36
The model needs to be exported as 2 seperate files. One is the high detail version with textures; this one is what the player will see. The second one is made of simple convex shapes and doesn't need textures. This one is used to determine the physical shape of the model. You assign these two files within the .qc text document used to compile the model.

If these steps seem confusing, please watch this video where I discuss exporting models into Source.

quick question when i export it it exports theme as seprate objects how do i export it as only one object?
Psych⊕tic_W⊕nderland 31. okt. 2016 kl. 10:05
I'm gonna do stardust speedway from sonic generations but the thing is the main road you use to play the stage with is not there so I'll test it out without a collision mesh and see how it goes!
Psych⊕tic_W⊕nderland 26. aug. 2016 kl. 7:03
ok thanks for telling me!
Jack  [ophavsmand] 25. aug. 2016 kl. 22:03
@Psyco
Sorry, I'm too busy to make a walkthrough of how to specifically make a map like this, but I can at least break down the steps for you.

1: Acquire a model to be used for the map (Models Resource for example)
2: Using a 3D modeling program, create a collision mesh that matches the model. (This will probably take the most time and effort)
3: Export the model with your hand-made collision mesh into the Source Engine
4: Using Hammer, center your model in the map and position all the player starts, create skybox, add music and other fun effects.
5: Compile your map and test it out!

like models resorce.
Psych⊕tic_W⊕nderland 25. aug. 2016 kl. 5:05
but the question is could you tell me or do a tutorial on how to make n64, gamecube maps? or is it a video i have not seen yet.
Psych⊕tic_W⊕nderland 25. aug. 2016 kl. 4:30
thank you!

@PSYCO W34S3L
This map was one of the easier ones to do thanks to it's simple shapes. If you're new to modding for the Source Engine, I made a small series of simple lessons to help people who want to get into modding.

kipniss3 4. aug. 2015 kl. 11:11
will u die when u fall off like in mario kart?
pokemon man 17. maj 2015 kl. 12:36
ok :3
Jack  [ophavsmand] 17. maj 2015 kl. 0:01
It is possible, but would take a lot of effort and wouldn't look nearly as good as it does on the WiiU. You won't be seeing that map from me I'm afraid.
pokemon man 16. maj 2015 kl. 16:53
can you make the Bowser's castle track from Mario kart 8
Mat2 25. sep. 2014 kl. 14:54
I'm sure everyone would like to see waluigi pinball. :P

BTW from what I've seen, if I recall correctly, it's easier to import them as props than maps...
6L 26. juli 2014 kl. 17:37
Brilliant map. Brings back so many memories. Thank you for making it!
Jack  [ophavsmand] 24. maj 2014 kl. 1:10
Possibly... Hmmm.... Been a long time since I ported maps.
PÖIЙ† βLΛЙK 23. maj 2014 kl. 21:45
Any chance you are able to port the racetracks as well? A little Toad's Turnpike in Gmod?
Jack  [ophavsmand] 19. maj 2014 kl. 10:26
Nope. Haven't heard of it
snapchipper 18. maj 2014 kl. 15:32
did you work on mariokart source by chance?
Benio 27. mar. 2014 kl. 18:37
Gad. It doesn't look likeI'm ever going to figure out how to import models/maps from the Models Resource to Garry's Mod...
Presters 4. dec. 2013 kl. 7:11
