@Teajai Ew, depressing is not my style, I like my escapism too much, thank you for the offer but I'll just not read it, besides I don't have the time or money to anyways.

I'd say yes, because the book itself is a warning to the public about authoritarianism in the first place. The book itself is chock full of prime examples of authoritarianism, and how the world had went into a constant state of war. It's a depressing concept, but it plays well into dystopian themes in various other works, including Half-Life 2 itself. I think it's important to read simply because its significance to various other works in literature, movies, video games and the like. And besides, if you read it, you can finally have something to say about what you think in the description of this addon, and what your addon's content is made to reflect this grim dystopian world of constant war and the defamation of the past.

@Teajai I'm a man who hates authoritarianism and is a pacifist who enjoys a good break from reality, that's me when it comes to books, still sound like a decent read for me?

You really should read the book, you probably would enjoy it.
