Would it be OK if I used this mod as a dependency for a Julian tier 3 boss on the robotic raider mod I'm currently working on ?
(I'm also wondering the same about the smaller forge sectopod)

Probably about the same situation as any other non-LWOTC specific enemy mod, which I don't know if that's a yes or no since I don't play with LWOTC.

No Prime's are not unique boss units but rather just a more dangerous version of an existing unit, in this case once the requirements for them to spawn in the campaign are met, you have a chance to encounter this instead of a normal Sectopod.

The others are from the more robots mod and the Shen's Last Gift DLC mission.

Is there one prime per game like with the rulers or are there multiple ones?

Also who are the other Sectopods in the photos?

@Deadput Just a follow up to my comment a little while ago, I'm on a run now with ABA and the ruler reaction mod together. The Forged Sectopod is working fine; Annihilation Protocol and all. It's a great boss, and I'm looking forward to trying out your other ones.

Since the skill works here if say you were only using this one mod entirely I would agree that the other mod is causing something wonky here.

Annihilation Protocol appears to not happen on my runs. I do happen to be running a mod that changes the ruler reaction for alien rulers and I have some suspicion that it may be causing this bug. It shows the icon "Annihilation Protocol", but then the Sectopod just doesn't do anything and it skips over to my next available soldier or ends the turn.

I didn't create the code for the original skill since I lifted it straight from ABA so I don't know how to alter it.

If I could make just one suggestion, is it possible to make it so the Forged Sectopod can only gain one "Annihilation Protocol" per overwatch phase? It's fine if it can get that multiple times on the player's turn, but what tends to happen, is if I have my whole squad on overwatch, and the Sectopod wanders in during the enemy turn, for each overwatch shot against it, it gains an Annihilation Protocol, giving it a crazy number of actions. I've actually seen it wipe my entire squad just from reactions to my overwatch squads, when I hadn't even discovered it yet on my turn...

Beyond clearing configs (to refresh mods and reduce left over conflicting data) and just testing your mod list to see if anything is incompatible I don't have any real answer for you

This mod works fine on it's own and in the most list I'm using.

A better AI? Nah, not using that mod. I bumped up the default difficulty and added a bunch of new enemies via mods, and felt like that would be enough to cut my teeth on for the time being :)

Do you think it is an AI issue, or should I reinstall the mod?

I've been having an issue where missions with these enemies cause nothing to happen on the enemy turn. Even worse, the enemies won't act, and their turn will last for several minutes before switching back to XCOM.

Yeah I've tried the mod from your link on a fresh campaign but unfortunately I didn't get the Prototype Sectopod appearing at the Forge mission.

I mean...the actual balance of the unit should be credited to DerBK

All I did was take his Sectopod Prime from that mod and make it standalone with a different texture and name to stand it out, so almost everything is borrowed such as the ai and size.

The Prime reactions are great yeah it's a good system

I really liked the overall balance of it. It's a tougher version of the standard sectopod, without giving it insane HP and damage to make it broken OP, like most enemy mods tend to do. Plus, adding the alien ruler reaction idea to it, is genius. Unused vanilla content or not it looks cooler from the original one too. I don't like its ridiculous size upgrade though. It may work in open areas (like avenger defence) but it's a total clipping fest when it's inside buildings. In most cases it causes some really weird visual interactions with the environment.

This skin does come from vanilla though so if there is a Sectopod Prime in the older ABA's then technically this mod could exist for Vanilla.

However it won't be from me, I don't even have the space on my computer for the mod tools.

How about investigating the Corpse gives us research for a Powerful Spark Cannon that uses the same model as the ADVENT MEC Cannon? hell I will write down the fluff for you if you can make it happen xD

Actually this is just an idea but if I did learn how to make custom rewards, maybe a vest that gave soldiers a basic prime reaction would be interesting.

I mean they drop Sectopod corpses I'm pretty sure so there is that.

I'm a repurposer of existing content and code, I'd love to make cool rewards if I could.

I personally wouldn't call getting rewards "balance" but I understand what you mean.

As musg as i love this Love to Suffer mods, I think we should get something inr eturn for taking down this mounstrosities ._. I know..its not your fault that i donwloaded this alongside Omega berserkers x_x, but I will insist, balancing this out for tough but fair challenge while perhaps erring more towards tough while not leaving us empty handed would be nice

As the screenshots indicate I recommend using this mod with CX's More Robots mod to further expand the Sectopod family.
