Doesn't work like it claims. After the first sweep it immediately tries to lower with out even trying to go back to the "start" position. This causes the drill drills to get hung up and push so hard against the terrain it breaks the piston head. I have pasted in 10 of these in a survival world with admin controls and every single one has snapped off the drill before the second complete sweep. Down voted.
LinuxUser69 8. jan. 2024 kl. 15:50
Appears to be broken now, the drill no longer spawns with it
Nomad 4. okt. 2021 kl. 7:55
I also start with two horizontal pistons from the get go, because doing a full sweep with 1 directional piston each (both up and down), and then adding a horizontal pistons after, really screws up things, and also requires you to redo timers anyway. Starting with 2 saves you a ton of time.
Nomad 4. okt. 2021 kl. 7:52
The setup guide is helpful, but it's best to just do your own timers. It'll require you using a stopwatch to see how fast your drill goes from side to the other. Best to allow it to do at least two sweeps before you have the Pistons extend. Personally, I have the horizontal pistons swing max first before allowing the drill to increase it's vertical Pistons. That way I get a full sweep at one depth, before going to the next. This helps me avoid the drills banging into the terrain, especially if it's slightly sloped.

i get this bp in both creative an built and timers are all outta wack, Y piston will not extend, had to follow the short how to at bottom to get most of the timers to go, so it swings back and forth x does its thing but Y never moves
Nomad 30. aug. 2020 kl. 13:48
Managed to get it working but I've noticed some side-effects when adding multiple pistons. As the ARC gets wider, the timer blocks start going out of sync. I've increased Start Timer and X1 Timer to 1min instead of 45s to see if that helps the pistons keep up with the mining before it starts adjusting velocity.
Nomad 21. aug. 2020 kl. 8:47
Check this morning and it looks like the drill and Piston Y broke off. I turned off the timer blocks, waited till it all reset, removed Piston X and curved conveyer. This time I added 1 vertical conveyer tube before the curved to give the drill 1 block of height. Rebuilt/Reprogramed everything else and started it back up. Hopefully it works and doesn't break again.

Does this platform need to be elevated rather than the base at ground level? The rotor and pistons seems to be working, and the drill is "skimming" the surface making the "rock noise", but it's not mining/voxel disappearing.
TheLastOne0001 21. jan. 2020 kl. 15:18
Did some testing on a creative world and the angle you place the pistons initially matters. When you weld up the rotor you will notice the rotor head is not on straight. If you are standing at the button panel facing the rotor you can imagine piston x like a clock hand. To set up the pistons properly the piston needs to be placed at about 7:00. Hope this helps
Pickled_Clitoris 19. dec. 2019 kl. 19:38
@Baalrog, how do i do that? i built it in survival but can't seem to get it to work despite following the instructions.
seronis 15. dec. 2019 kl. 12:30
You cant place a drill intersecting voxels. clear the area first or build the drill a block or two higher up for its starting position
Pan Man 27. nov. 2019 kl. 10:39
Great! Though the drill won't be placed for some reason. Help?
NexTheGargoar 18. sep. 2019 kl. 21:12
It never does the Vertical movement, even with the correct settings applied. This is in survival btw
Baalrog 20. aug. 2019 kl. 9:50
You can set timer commands to work on Groups that will not be locked to the unique pistons. That way users can add the new pistons, add them to groups, and your timers will apply actions to those named groups without the user needing to configure everything themselves.

Very cool build!

This reminds me of the concrete extractors from "Surviving Mars" a whole heck of a lot.

Awesome job, mate.

11. aug. 2019 kl. 14:22
Wonderful! Need a script to work with similar products. Automatic drilling on the platform
galchenok 11. aug. 2019 kl. 7:30
good job:steamhappy:
Nika 15. juli 2019 kl. 14:52
it works but then it stops working. just goes back and forth without actually expanding and retracting. so its mining nothing
Cryptonized 14. juli 2019 kl. 3:41
None of the stone is going into the container or connector. All the conveyor lights are green and everything was connected correctly. I even tried getting rid of the container and connecting the connector directly to the drill but it still didn't work.

@OctoMoose

I've been working on a version of this that is mobile in the sense that a drop ship can pick it up and move it. The issue i am having is building a stable multigrid with 3 pistons (5 total grids). It's quite difficult to do properly and have it be stable enough for the workshop (or, for that matter, moving it at all).

If you're good at nesting pistons I encourage you to give it it a go!
gorgofdoom 13. juli 2019 kl. 0:55
@Chicago Ted
@Taren Black

You must also add them to a group. I would check to make sure the timer/triggers are set properly by clearing them and setting them up again.
Freddy McCraggy 12. juli 2019 kl. 16:15
It still needs some work, but it is cool.
Chicago Ted 11. juli 2019 kl. 23:42
I don't understand how to add additional pistons. Can you please go over it in more detail, if I want to add another Y piston?
Locomotor79 10. juli 2019 kl. 15:58
the piston arms arent working but i did as typed in the info
Locomotor79 10. juli 2019 kl. 14:53
it works but not compleetly the pistons arent working even though i named as you say in the info really odd
Taren Black 6. juli 2019 kl. 17:28
this is my new favorite thing.... thank you so much...
dexnom_ᛒᛏᛃᚾᚹᚾ 29. juni 2019 kl. 6:25
got it...when i paste it rotor is always set at 500rpm
xpavlus 28. juni 2019 kl. 23:40
just tryed and works fine
dexnom_ᛒᛏᛃᚾᚹᚾ 28. juni 2019 kl. 20:51
not working at all..just time to time move from one side to another with super speed breaking anything attached. i didnt change anything - F10 - paste. can you help me fix it please?
sKneakups 28. juni 2019 kl. 19:58
surviving mars? love the feel!
Chaos Coyote 28. juni 2019 kl. 17:52
Getting some really heavy "Survive Mars" vibes here. Cool design! Nice to see a "mining outpost" blueprint, even if it IS a "test". There's something strangely satisfying about symmetry in industrial applications.

TamTam2204 28. juni 2019 kl. 6:43
Hats off, very nice build, and the fact that you didn’t use scrips makes it an even bigger accomplishment
TommyToughKnuckles 27. juni 2019 kl. 16:26
Mine keeps getting stuck...
bart 27. juni 2019 kl. 1:53
very cool on survie, thanks
acynder 26. juni 2019 kl. 19:01
I recomend you to change the piston x and y of the timers from the block in especific to a group, since then you can group the pistons to a equaly named group and they will be piked instaly, making it easier to set up and escalate.
OctoBooze  [ophavsmand] 26. juni 2019 kl. 12:58
Not particularly, but someone else pointed out the same thing and now I'm stuck playing Surviving Mars... Might do more SM inspired builds in the future.
warriorsabe 26. juni 2019 kl. 12:29
It looks like the wonder for concrete production in surviving mars. (Is that why you put it on mars?)
Master-Castor 25. juni 2019 kl. 9:37
Bonne machine à miner très très cool
OctoBooze  [ophavsmand] 25. juni 2019 kl. 8:58
It literally says it in the main title. Vanilla. Additionally if it has DLC it will show an notification... Not like there's any dlc blocks visible in the screenshots beside the Mule rover which is not a part of the platform....................
Knu-Kni 25. juni 2019 kl. 8:49
is it a vanilla build. or is it using dlc items?
[BR]SharkStrike 25. juni 2019 kl. 8:23
R.I.P. Dedicated Severs..
Locomotor79 25. juni 2019 kl. 5:34
and where is the tanker/cargo runner that you see in the picture
OctoBooze  [ophavsmand] 25. juni 2019 kl. 4:12
Loading the bp into a projector will not give the full machine. It's why the instructions to finishing it are written in description.
Locomotor79 25. juni 2019 kl. 4:09
i hope the bleuprint whill work becausse off the rotor's and Pistons
OctoBooze  [ophavsmand] 25. juni 2019 kl. 2:24
Never used any resource mods but all this does is scrape material layer by layer so by resetting pistons to start position after completion should give room for ore to spawn I guess. It is fully intended for survival so I think it should work?
Cheetah 25. juni 2019 kl. 0:56
This is... Impressive. On a side note, does the harvester work well (survival-wise) with planetary resource spawning?
jjloy1 24. juni 2019 kl. 16:06
thanks for releasing this, I was trying to make one last night, so this saved me hours of work
Priam 24. juni 2019 kl. 14:35
I do believe this fits in perfectly!
