So glad to find this mod!! I always play on the largest map my computer can run and I have 8GB of VRAM and 64GB of RAM so they are very large maps indeed. I love find mods that can upsize capabilities so I am not spending massive numbers of turns just exploring my tiny little corner. :)

Do the units that already have bonuses get them in addition - settlers get +1, recon can earn +1, etc.

Kind of spoils exploration of the game don't you think? I would rather earn promotions to gain sight. Thanks for the effort though.
