it's 14k tris mostly because of the lettering and the enormous glass atrium with all the lifts. but trust me that it would have looked awful if I'd just made that whole bit opaque. awful. was nice to open up the blender file and revisit it, pretty good job imo.
Robert  [ophavsmand] 3. juli 2023 kl. 5:11
great q - the walls inside actually reduce the tris - in the main tower (excl. the atrium) each 'square' of windows in the lattice is divided by four columns extended out from the glass. (why did I do that? besides looking better it gave me more freedom in how I set up the window texture). this is symmetrical and extends down. so a) I extend each column down as uninterrupted faces intersecting with the lattice, and b) I have the inner faces of each column shared with its opposite side! take the wide sides as an example - they have 28 columns per side. If I treated them separately as columns with 3 faces, that's 336 tris (28*6*2) to define those columns. By having them extend across, they're rectangular tubes with 4 faces, 224 (28*8). so we're not talking about a huge number of tris in the first place, but my method shave off about 112 tris vs. having a more clean, empty inside. :)

The asset looks great, but why did you include so many vertical walls inside? A lot of vertices and tris which feels unnecessary. It doesn't look like it has sub buildings, to use the towers separately which could be the reason behind some of the interior choices.

Hey mate, would you be able to DM me about freelance work? Up to $1000 per building

The neon prop has the additive shader, LOD is removed in the process and render distance is increased instead. There's nothing to be done about it, it's just a warning. :)
DBP main building still has a messed up LOD though, this is a good reminder to revisit it sometime this year.

Great asset, sorry to mention, but LSM has reported this in my output.txt:

Great work on these buildings, and fantastic attitude. Keep up the fantastic work.

Modding is labour and people deserve to be paid for the things they make, but personally I work full time and do this in my spare time for pleasure.
If anything I would rather charge directly for items over setting up shop on a whole different money-collection system. If I could charge say 10c for this tower it would have generated over $500 (over 6,000 total subs, making the very big assumption that price wouldn't affect who subbed - of course it would).

That won't be happening. I respect everyone who has decided to monetise their workshop stuff or city-making videos, but I am keen to keep it strictly free. I don't want to lock my progress screenshots behind a paywall, I share progress on twitter because I use twitter already every day, my friends are on there, simple as that.

i raise my skinny fists in defiance of this enormous building every morning on my way to see my parole officer

@BillyShabindigo I've published the fountain separately here - https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1651130667

Finally! Sydney getting some representation on the workshop!

Feature: You can place it and blow it up as many times as you like, and the new world order can't do anything about it.

I'll wait for you to produce them as parks. Thanks, man
Robert  [ophavsmand] 3. feb. 2019 kl. 4:34
It is a level 5 unique building. I also recommend using the mod Find It.
Insipidus 3. feb. 2019 kl. 0:31
where is this located ingame?
Robert  [ophavsmand] 2. feb. 2019 kl. 15:11
I will be producing other fountains from around Sydney as standalone park objects to be placed in park districts, fwiw. This was my first crack at it and I think I'll be able to do better.
Robert  [ophavsmand] 2. feb. 2019 kl. 15:09
I would love to but I don't think it would be practical.. the fountains are made up of three pieces: the main bed (part of the building mesh), the reflective water (part of the glass submesh), and finally the animated ripples (it's own submesh). Props can't have submeshes, so I would need to save each part separately and assembly would be required.. I could publish it as its own park possibly, like Ronyx's pool assets, and then maybe you could add it as a sub-building in asset editor, but.. you can see from me spitballing that it's a headache. I originally wanted them to be props for the model, but had to give up on that to get the effect I wanted. Let me know if you'd be fine laying down base then water then ripples as three props :\
BillyShabindigo 2. feb. 2019 kl. 14:48
Any way you could make those fountains a separate prop? I'd like to use those in other plazas.
Two Dollars Twenty 1. feb. 2019 kl. 3:02
I've been waiting for this building! Thanks!
Robert  [ophavsmand] 31. jan. 2019 kl. 23:39
I took the time to plan a roadmap for the year, I think it's doable (and includes Chifley and old HSBC fwiw), but the order I do things in (and how fast they end up done) is always subject to my enthusiasm and real life events, so I dont want to share it.
Robert  [ophavsmand] 31. jan. 2019 kl. 23:30
The train fans have been making noise the last few months so I'm getting some more of them done first, but the next building will be Wynyard station, followed by uhtheoperahouseprobablyinmarch*mumbles*
