My reasoning was that militarist empires don't focus on defense, but rather on offense - it's fairly easy to change it to allow militarist empires to use defensive combat though!

This is a great mod, but theres one thing that doesnt make any sense to me..

Why is Defensive Combat disabled for Militarist Ethics?

A species that has Militarist Ethic should have every single option available to them, because they are Militarists.

Defensive Combat should only be disabled for Determined Exterminators, imho

Only one way to find out - But yes, it should work. I could not find anything in the 3.4 'Cepheus' patch notes that should break the mod.

For some reason none of my armies are disengaging. And I mean they don't disengage, at, all. I sent 20 armies down onto a planet with 2 defensive armies and for some reason only two of my armies take/deal any damage at a time, and just continue to fight with the drastically decreased damage for being broken once morale hits 0 until they're destroyed. I even use policies and generals that increase army disengage chance but so far in my current run my attacking armies seem to be completely incapable of running to fight another day.

Enemy defensive armies still do retreat.

As Elementony said, it only changes a few defines and the like, it's 3.0 compatible, but I'll put changing the version number on my todo list :)

You should be able to add it to and remove it from saves without any problems. Always test it before you try it with a savegame that you have put a lot of time in!

Should be. Best way to find out is by downloading both and checking whether they change the same files. If they do there's a good chance they won't be compatible.

I don't see it in their files- so I'm going to say either yes, or at best maybe. I ask because this mod edits the Health of the Default Armies. I didn't see the 'Version & Compatibility' first time I viewed this mod, so sorry if I missed that. Reading it now I understand better. This mod makes armies retreating during combat more likely, while also buffing the amount of HP armies have. This means armies are less likely to die (when winning ground combat that is). They are also more resistant to orbital bombardment.

@DarWin: It seems to edit the same file as I have edited for my mod. Not sure if the exact same defines have been edited, but if it does it is not compatible. Try loading both mods and check if the game produces any errors (logged in the error log in \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\logs). Try loading my mod first so his mod can overwrite my changes where needed.

Would also like to know if this works with 2.3 because Army Overhaul is something I've been looking for for so long~
