Honestly, I didn't even know that was possible, for any natural wonder for that matter. Guess it never came up in any of my games. Off the top of my head though I don't recall seeing any lines in the XML files for excusing a feature from consideration for these wonders, so I'll have to think on that one for a bit.

Have you done anything regarding the game considering it a mountain? I once built the Machu Pichu in it. Looks nice, but a bit silly.
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 3. aug. 2014 kl. 18:29
Good question. Actually, I never thought of that before. Since I didn't knowingly add anything to make it so, I'm leaning towards no.

I suppose it would make sence however if other little lakes are that way. I just didn't consider it since I always walk around them.
thistlebloom 3. aug. 2014 kl. 11:06
Can you embark across it like you can with other single tile lakes?

No idea why you would want to, but out of curiosity
Akinaba 18. okt. 2013 kl. 10:17
Always wondered why there is Lake Victoria in the game but we have no Lake Baikal there... Sadly

@lockstep
I have taken a look at the updated XML and I confirm that you are correct. It's slightly sad that most of this mod is now redundant, but I'm glad that these changes were ultimately incorporated officially.

I'll just leave this mod up for posterity's sake, and in case anyone agrees with the case that Aztecs ought to get a little extra bonus.
lockstep 20. sep. 2013 kl. 1:56
It seems that the 1.0.3.70 patch incorporated most features of your fix into the basic game. The only exception is that Lake Victoria still doesn't receive +2 food from the Aztec Floating Gardens, which was somewhat debatable (one could argue that Natutal Wonders should provide fixed yields, except for Spain).
Kopiok 22. aug. 2013 kl. 9:20
I... I tried searching for this mod by name, as well as simply checking the "terrain" tag and it never showed in the search results. 'Sup wit that?
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 4. aug. 2013 kl. 8:58
@The.Luuuk
Nice! Glad that resolved so easily.
KozaL 4. aug. 2013 kl. 2:53
Problem solved, need to delete all cache files from game directory new/other PC. During the next run all needed files will be downloaded including Lake Victoria mod ;)
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 3. aug. 2013 kl. 21:18
@The.Luuuk
I can't entirely figure out the issue. Do you want the mod active on this other computer or not? If it helps your understanding, I believe Steam tracks mods by user and downloads the mods to any computer that player uses, which would be the install you noticed.
KozaL 3. aug. 2013 kl. 5:26
why can't active this mode on another PC with CIV5 installation ? No modes installed in game but it was installed and game was restarted after. Pls help.
brad_laces 29. juli 2013 kl. 13:33
This mod works very smoothly! Thank you for your efforts.
Unluck 24. juli 2013 kl. 6:53
@calypso yea i figured... im slow, but not that slow hehehe....

@[Ars]Baen
Yes it does. I wanted to tag it as Brave New World, but the Steam Workshop doesn't have that tag yet. I added a disclaimer in the discription for you until then.

@Dinokris
Large green "Subsribe" button under the screenshot scroll will download. You don't have to stay subscribed, but staying so will make sure you're in on any updates I make, and I appreciate it since I get a better idea how many people are actually using my mods.

@PTK
Thanks for the reply. Just note that the mod will not have any effect on a game started without the mod , since these changes would introduce a sudden, unfair bias in favor a particular civ half-way through a game.

[Ars]Baen 23. juli 2013 kl. 11:24
Does this require BNW? Could you mark it if it does?
Unluck 23. juli 2013 kl. 10:47
@ Calypso, I didn't grab it yet. I was unsure of how it affected the 6 food from the wonder itself, but after your reply I understand. Subscribed! ty...
Dinokris 23. juli 2013 kl. 10:12
How do you download this?
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 23. juli 2013 kl. 7:34
@PTK
No, that sounds about right. The change is that all of the plots around the lake should have fresh water now and can be farmed more efficiently (+1 food each, +2 on civil service). Cities on the shore can then build a Garden. The only way you actually get more food from the lake itself is through an Aztec Floating Garden (+2 food).
If you could, I'd appreciate a quick heads up if it's working for you, just so I know nothing's broken.
Unluck 23. juli 2013 kl. 5:08
in my games so far, lake victoria has provided 6 food. am i missing something?
Steinmarder 22. juli 2013 kl. 7:15
Thanks
tovarisch 21. juli 2013 kl. 18:32
wow only +1 food :bag:
Viva Lo PeRu 20. juli 2013 kl. 20:24
i can't see the point :/
LVS 20. juli 2013 kl. 16:40
Thanks a lot, I am a big fan of boosting population growth, that will help :D
Sorrydough 20. juli 2013 kl. 8:57
Thanks so much! I wanted 5 food and 2 culture, but the modbuddy was so. ****ing. compilcated. This was a much easier change for me, as I've had past experience with it in Lua. Cheers!
Georgestephenson 20. juli 2013 kl. 6:57
@flygongengar,
You are right, all the natural wonders that are mountains are considered as such for observatory, some how not for me, need to check it out.
Georgestephenson 20. juli 2013 kl. 6:09
@flygongengar,

Sri Pada doesn't allow for observatory although it's described as mountain peack, I'll look for others and post later.
Slabbedask 20. juli 2013 kl. 0:23
Is there a way I can make this a permanent change in the game without having to load a mod every time I start a new game?
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 19. juli 2013 kl. 20:58
@Flypaste
Sure can. The full file directory goes something like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\sid meier's civilization v\Assets\DLC\Expansion2\Gameplay\XML\Terrain\CIV5Features_Expansion2.xml

That's the file that defines Lake Victoria, among the other BNW natural wonders.
Sorrydough 19. juli 2013 kl. 20:53
Is there a way for me to get to the lake's XML file in the game's source code?
Warwick🐺 19. juli 2013 kl. 19:32
What a fail this should already been inthe game
fuggaakthefrd 19. juli 2013 kl. 18:24
Nice fix, Do you know of any for the mountain natural wonders to retain their mountain bonuses (ability to build observatory and mountain world wonders)
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 19. juli 2013 kl. 16:06
@auke.roest01
If it's the verion of Civ you are wondering about, this mod is for elements of the Brave New World expansion. It won't do anything with lower versions of Civ.
meowmeowmeowmeow 19. juli 2013 kl. 11:25
what version?
DrakenX999 19. juli 2013 kl. 10:47
@Georgestephenson

The game already treats most of the mountain national wonders as mountain tiles. For example, you can build the observatory if you're by Kilamanjaro. I don't believe anything in the game changes mountain yield.
Georgestephenson 19. juli 2013 kl. 4:46
Hi Calypso, can you make a mod for mountain - wonders to be treated as muontains regarding buildings and world wonders which requires a mountain next to the city or two tiles away from it ?

I hope I'm not double posting, I was sure I already poset that subject but I can't find it.
Sikyanakotik 18. juli 2013 kl. 18:19
Well, this just makes sense. Hopefully this gets patched in.
Atlas5 18. juli 2013 kl. 9:56
Now if only I actually spawned near it!
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 17. juli 2013 kl. 14:36
That bit of XML worked out great on a dummy map I threw together, and I've published the update. Aztecs should get their +2 Food from the lake now when they build those nifty Floating Gardens.

#flygongengar #willowvignette
Great group effort by the way, between the idea and the approach.
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 17. juli 2013 kl. 14:14
NICE! You and I are thinking alike; I used the same exact method as yours on taking a closer look. Great to have someone to affirm my approach. Just testing this out before I update...
DrakenX999 17. juli 2013 kl. 14:04
I don't think you need lua, something like this might work:

<Building_FeatureYieldChanges>
<Row>
<BuildingType>BUILDING_FLOATING_GARDENS</BuildingType>
<FeatureType>FEATURE_LAKE_VICTORIA</FeatureType>
<YieldType>YIELD_FOOD</YieldType>
<Yield>2</Yield>
</Row>
</Building_FeatureYieldChanges>
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 17. juli 2013 kl. 13:30
Huh, that did not even cross my mind. The way the game gives the Aztecs extra food to lakes is done in such a way that it can ONLY be for lakes, but a bit of Lua code should be able to clone the same effect for Lake Victoria. I'm not too familiar with Lua, but I'll see if I can make the change.
willowvignette 17. juli 2013 kl. 13:12
Can I also suggest you allows the Aztecs Floating Gardens building to give +2 food to Lake Victory like it can with normal lake tiles.
Calypso  [ophavsmand] 17. juli 2013 kl. 13:04
I think hippos would be great, though that gets into the deep and obscure realm of editing the actual 3D assets for terrain and improvements, something I haven't quite been able to get the hang of yet.

Rest assured though, you can't miss the actual discovery of the wonder due to the notifications it spawns.
Industrial7 17. juli 2013 kl. 12:56
Great! But is it possible for you to make it more obvious, I can easily miss seeing lake victoria as it looks to much like other lakes. Is it possiblt to add Hippos or something?
